Great pack, but too big for short torsos

mistify76, B&H Photo
24 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this pack to use as a daypack that would carry all of my camera gear (body, several lenses, filters, tripod), as well as extra clothes, food, etc. The design and capacity were great, but unfortunately, the pack is just a little to tall. I have a high waist and relatively short torso (16") and even with the shoulder harness adjusted to it's lowest position, the shoulder straps just sat too high.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Design
  • Cons: Too big

Good functional product

  • Excerpt: A good bag for day hikes and photography. Can comfortably carry a Nikon D800 with a couple of lenses, rain jacket, food and water for the day. Probably not enough capacity for serious overnight adventures. The suspension system is comfortable for carrying 20-25 pounds on 5 mile+ hikes in rugged terrain.
  • Pros: Adjustable Harness, Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment

Improvements needed

24 May 2013
  • Excerpt: The Rover Pro 45L is not all that it could be. It worked out fine for me, but there is room for improvement; a lot of room, actually. On the first day out with it, the chest strap broke -- pulled off the rail on the left shoulder. I had to do some sewing repair/reinforcement. I took the backpack on a trip to Colorado where I was doing some cross-country skiing and a fair amount of snowshoeing.
  • Pros: Adjustable Harness, Comfortable
  • Cons: Hard To Access Equipment, Not enough straps

Excellent for camping with photo gear

  • Excerpt: Excellent for one or two nights with photo gear on it. I personally use it with only one of the photo bag inserts and is very roomy. I really love this bag. I filled with a small 2 person tent, one thermarest pad, 2 liter camellback and 2 more liters of water inside, food and one change of clothes. All these with the small camera insert with a 5d mk1, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 20mm 2.8 and 3 b+w filters. Outside my Giottos carbon tripod.
  • Pros: Adjustable Harness, Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Roomy, Strong Construction

  • Excerpt: Love this bag. It's super comfortable and easily carries the gear I need into the great outdoors and away from the studio. Haven't used it long enough to comment on the build quality though. Definitely the most comfortable bag I've ever owned.

Excellent hiking backpack

Trig, B&H Photo
13 November 2012
  • Excerpt: This is the outdoor hiking backpack that I have been waiting for! It is perfect for those longer, even multiday, hiking trips where you want to bring your camera gear, tripod, change of cloths, food ect. It has room for your essentials and with the removable camera inserts (2X) you can deside for yourself how to balance photo equipment and other gear. The inserts are also great to use with much larger backpacks if this one becomes too small on other trips.
  • Pros: Adjustable Harness, Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Lightweight, Roomy, Strong Construction
