Lowepro CompuTrekker AW review by Joris Van den Berghe

  • Summary: I use it for the following: - Sony A350 with 70-400G SSM mounted, - 55-200mm f/4-5.6, - 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6, - lens caps of the 55-200 and 70-400 (the latter being pretty large), - extra battery, memory cards,... - MacBook Pro 13" in it's own cover Yet, I have still a lot of space left...I could probably get like 4 or more lenses in it...(of the size of the 55-200 or a 24-70).
  • Pros: Sturdy, comfortable for walking, holds a lot (!), weather-resistant,...
  • Cons: None, except for the all-weather cover (which got a bit dirty after having used it to lay the backpack on it in the snow...and now I'm having a really hard time to clean it)....it's simply top-notch gear.

  • Summary: Tripod secure system- there is nowhere for the elastic straps to go when not in use, just hangs. But holds tripod well when in use. Overall great bag and value, sells over 200 on other sites.

  • Summary: I use this bag whenever I need to travel with both my photo gear and my laptop. The storage is huge. Without packing too tightly, it fits the following: - 10D + 17-40 L - 70-200/2.8 - 100-400 L - flash - hoods, filter - Macbook Pro 15" - A/C adapter, battery charger, plenty of CF cards - plenty of books It would probably fit a 300/2.8, but I have not tried, and this would reduce significantly the room for other lenses (probably, I should leave the 100-400 or the 70-200...
  • Pros: great storage, great construction, good protection of the equipment, perfect choice as a carry-on.
  • Cons: shape of the shoulder straps not very comfortable (to me), rather heavy.

  • Summary: LowePro have an excellent design which swallows my D200 and numerouis lenses. Is comfortable for wearing all day long and the AW pull out cover very useful for heavy showers. Build quality is excellent and backed up with LowePro's lifetime warranty. Also takes a laptop which doubles a useful document / magazine section for travelling.
  • Pros: excellent
  • Cons: not much
