Amazing Bag

James, B&H Photo
20 September 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought this bag to make a portable lighting rig and am simply amazed at the volume of equipment it will accept. Surprisingly, I am able to neatly fit two packs, two extra batteries, two strobe heads, two adapter rings, two cords, and a battery charger... two full lighting kits and there is still a bit of room for little odds and ends. I am not talking about speed lights, but rather full scale portable strobes.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Lightweight, Strong Construction, Well Padded

Best bags

  • Excerpt: Domke are my favorite bags because they are light, soft and conform to the body. And they are unobtrusive. The ballistic material is very sturdy and lasts forever. My only criticism of the J-2 is the side pocket click snaps - the design takes a little getting used to. But the fact that it isn't so easy to open could be seen as an advantage. I wish this model came in green, like the canvas models do......

Ugly bag proves to be versatile

  • Excerpt: Having used Crumpler backpacks to transport my photographic gear around for some years, I know that there is no such thing as a compromise between design and function. I wanted a Shoulder Bag to access my gear easier, and the J-2 seemed as a good selection. Compared to the looks of the Crumplers, the Domke products are straight out ugly, but then again the Domkes have the advantage of being both versatile and comfortable while a strong construction is maintaines.

great bag

  • Excerpt: I bought it recently, filled it with all my gear and it is very comfortable (I bought a postal pad with it after readind the rewiews), not that heavy as I expected. only thing what worries me is the metal clips which could hit the lenses in some cases. I like the inner strap so I can move it around open. I am certainly not going to use it for long walks or hiking, but for jobs like wedding shooting or similar events.

  • Excerpt: This bag is good for carrying two camera bodies with lenses attached, two other lenses, flash unit, and miscellaneous items, such as memory cards, spare batteries penlite, pens, pads, etc. It is light and comfortable to handle. All items are readily accessable. Dividers can be changed to better accommodate the items to be carried in the bag.

The right stuff

  • Excerpt: Domke bags have always rocked and the J2 is no exception. The reason I chose this over the classic J2 is that the clips on the top flap are sewn on the outside and not the inside like the classic ( the clips had a tendency to hit my lenses inside the bag when closing ). Small point, but saves me worrying about whether or not my glass is going to get scratched. The ballistic black doesn't fade like the canvas does.
