Works great for a week then it becomes a paper weight

Scott M., Newegg
6 March 2007
  • Summary: Well from what other reviews I have read, you can find o-rings elsewhere that works great and is only a couple of bucks. However, at the canon website it is almost impossible to find one, and I read that it costs $30!!!!
  • Pros: It works! I can go underwater and take beautiful pictures. Took it with me to the Caribbean and after three tries it still worked.
  • Cons: The bad, it started leaking after the three tries! My canon got wet... it is because the O-ring gets extremely loose after a few tries. Trust me I was SOOOO CAREFUL when applying the lubricant.. I just couldn't trust this anymore

Addition to last comment

  • Pros: Although the camera is tightly enclosed and seemingly airtight, it still manages to allow sound transfer. The videos I took I was able to hear everything going on pretty good. It wasnt as great as without the casing but to have sound Im very happy
  • Cons: Sister keeps complaining she cant find my camera..."its only attached to the bright yellow neckstrap hanging from my computer desk" and she is too lazy to take it out of the case for casual use even though that is not necessary.

Great Case

Joshua O., Newegg
3 October 2006
  • Summary: It wasnt necessary, but I applied the silicon grease to the yellow ring to prolong the life and hope it seals better. I reccommend cleaning the case if you took it in the ocean with fresh water.
  • Pros: At first I thought the case plus the camera would outweigh the bouyancy, but the camera and case actually stayed afloat and came with a nice neck strap. There were no leaks whatsoever at 10 feet deep and we took it on the waverunner videotaping our knee/wakeboarding skills. All videos and picture...
  • Cons: In application of the zoom operation, they have constructed the case to operate backwards. This is not at all a drawback because I am happy I am able to use all functions of my camera with the case.

Fabulous!

Quang S., Newegg
12 September 2006
  • Summary: Maui vacation pics and vids came out fabulously! Made beach and snorkeling experience even better! Didn't have to worry about my camera being wet or damaged! The Cons are just minor and really glad I got this. Can't wait to take it snowboarding!
  • Pros: Not too big, has all camera buttons, clear case, pics/lens not affected, and Waterproof!
  • Cons: Took it to Maui for 1.5 weeks. I don't think it was "heavy-duty" tested. Sand keeps getting in the button chamber. Doesn't affect the waterproofing and vigorous rinsing will get it out but it will come back. Can hardly see screen in bright sunlight or underwater, need some glare and/or magnifying...

  • Summary: A great alternative to disposable underwater cameras. If you own a compatible Canon camera and you want GREAT underwater pics, get this!
  • Pros: Great case, worked flawlessly underwater while snorkling in Floria. Photos from my SD450 came out great!
  • Cons: None

All Weather Case a Must for Camera Bashing

John D., Newegg
13 February 2006
  • Summary: Now if canon could make an SD series that wasn't so fragile (my sd300 died and was repaired under warranty after the lens motor jammed when I had it OUT of this case on the beach...) have also heard the SD series LCD's are prone to breakage...so put it in this case FIRST!!
  • Pros: Great case if you use the camera in the elements...don't expect to go scuba diving, but for snorkeling, rain, beach, boat etc...a must have to protect the fragile canon series cameras. Highly recommended compliment to the canon digi cameras..I actually bought the camera due to the availability of...
  • Cons: Hinge area tends to collect sand in the event of extreme conditions; however, you can disassemble this w a small screw driver and clean...also, after heavy outdor/water use, it is prudent to take the yellow o-ring seal out and clean and regrease w/ the (supplied) silicone grease. A bit bulky, but...

  • Summary: took it for a spin and a couple underwater videos in hawaii; pleasantly surprised by how they turned out except for my incessant shaking due from swimming. i went a bit over 10ft deep and a couple drops of water made it into the case without damaging the camera.
