Poor QA

brandon s., Newegg
25 March 2013
  • Pros: None.
  • Cons: Came with my T3 kit purchased through another retailer. Cheap thin plastic. Hot Shoe is loose on my T3. Overall QA on this is extremely poor. Battery door loose. Have to press in on battery door for it to even charge. When you do managed to get the charge indicator to light, it does not work. Won't even flash when pressing in on test button. Not a single photo taken after unboxing this. After a half hour playing with this thing, it's going right in the trash can. Don'...

A new low

David T., Newegg

  • Pros: lightweight
  • Cons: Incredibly cheaply made, bad wiring, worse than most cameras built in flashes, wildly unpredictable metering

Great Flash (However)

Donald P., Newegg
6 February 2011
  • Summary: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED EVEN THO HAD PROBLEM. Most digital cameras use a pre-flash to see brightness of scene and focus. If you buy a flash with out the pre-flash switch it will not work with digital camera, because slave would flash with the pre-flash. This slave flash unit has multi choice switch to allow for camera that has both pre-flash and red-eye flash,, really great and needed.
  • Pros: Price is WOW right. Quick recharge with fresh batteries, about 3 seconds, adj pre-flash not just for red-eye, very happy to have them for wedding slave flash fill, both sides of stage. You can not do better even at three times the price. Two side by side guide is 80 (guide @ iso100 = 40). Buying a g=80 flash would be an expensive flash with perhaps less versatility.
  • Cons: QA/QC PROBLEM: Bought 4, only one worked, simple fix: however I can not mention simple based on review guidelines. Tested after simple fix multi times. All 4 units now A-OK wonderful design at give-away price. Have bought from NEWEGG for years and know that they would have replace the defective units, they are a great company, reliable ,,,,I give Newegg five stars + where 5 is best.

Good flash for what it was sold for

Nader W., Newegg
21 October 2010
  • Pros: Cheap and works. I bought this to work with my point and shoot cameras and Canon SLR.. The easiest way to test how many preshots you need to adjust it fire with your camera is to point your camera at it with the flash on and slide the button one step at a time until it fires back at your lens. Some cameras will fire too many times for the flash to handle if your red eye reduction is on. This instrument was meant to avoid the everage up to four preflashes not more. I a...

Does what it's designed to do

Laudemer L., Newegg
21 August 2010
  • Summary: would have been nicer if the flash head rotated or had a soft focus cover/adapter
  • Pros: Small, convenient for manual macro shots but have not tried for anything past 10 feet when used w/ oncamera flash for photographing small items, it's effective
  • Cons: not sure, using rechargeable batteries but probably with regular alkaline you'll go through sets of batteries if you takes lots of photos
