Summary: This really did make a nice addition to the camera. Pictures that I took of the Grand Canyon came out great. The problem is with the connector. It is plastic and the side piece that you hold on to tighten on and off the camera broke off during the week of vacation. Now I have to really work to attach to the camera. Sad that Sony could not do a better job of making this product. This is the same thing I will write for the wide angle and the connector.
Sony VAD-WF Lens/Filter Adaptor for DSC-W300 not worth the price

Summary: After returning a Sony DSC-W170 due to poor IQ, had severe softness on left side of images, I paid a bit more to exchange it for a DSC-W300. The W300 also has some softness (blurriness) on the left side of its widest angle lens setting, but overall IQ is much better than the W170 was. But the W300 does not have the 28mm wide angle capability as the W170 does.
