Excerpt: I puchased this product since I was having difficulty focusing my Olympus EP3. Now that I am in my 40's, I need to keep the camera at arm's length. Also strong sunlight washes out the screen of the EP-3. With this I can see my picture clearly. I also use manual lenses with my Ep-3 and this is definitely makes is much easier - especially whan taking macro shots or when using zoom lenses. I think the camera should come with this.
Excerpt: The resolution is appallingly bad and the color is so far off that it bears little relationship to what you will see on the LCD. It is not worthy of the Olympus name and they should recall them. It's one thing to cut corners and quite another to produce a product that is effectively useless. Since I returned it, I have received comments from others, all of whom also returned it for the same reasons. This is a bad product. Shame on you, Olympus.
Cons: Coarse and grainy, Not Functional, Washed out color
Summary: Very good but overpriced. I regret that Olympus has dispended with having a built-in viewfinder, which makes life so much easier in bright weather. The touch-screen is clever, but doesn't work in bright sunlight.
Summary: Much the best viewfinder I have ever used: clear, bright and sharp. It is a shame that this technology is not incorporated into the camera in place of the rear screen which is of little practical value on a bright day!
Summary: This piece of equipment was delivered promptly, and works exactly as it's supposed to on top of my E-P2 camera. The images you see are clear and bright, and are delivered prompt to the viewfinder by the camera. The advantages of this item are that it makes it really easy to see images that would be otherwise be displayed on the screen (especially in sunny weather, when light from the sun makes viewing the main screen hard, because of glare being reflected from it) and it...
Summary: Why do Olympus and other camera manufacturers not put viewfinders on their cameras as standard? This is great, especially in sunshine. The camera now feels like the SLR substitute I thought I had bought. The flip up feature allows you to get down for some interesting angles and shots, especially useful for macro shots of plants etc. the price will put people off, but if you own a Pen, you will not regret tightening your belt and getting this.
Summary: This EVF is the same as the one Leica will sell you at double the price for their X2 and M240 cameras. EVF technology is changing rapidly so it makes sense not to invest heavily. This one works well, adjustable dioptre, tilting eyepiece and it just slides into the camera hot shoe. Recommended.
Summary: I waited a long while before buying this as it is so expensive and I was hoping the price would come down (it didn't). I have it on an Olympus E-PL3 and have to say that having bought it it does do a good job. People have enthused over the image quality of the viewfinder. Personally I don't think it's THAT good, but it's more than adequate for the job. There are two big benefits for me.
