A good hood

Roberto, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: Prudent and protective. It's on my lens whenever the cap isn't. Well made, clicks on and stays on and comes off easily. Enough shade yet remains out of sight at 14mm.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

  • Excerpt: The product is great, however it is for the Zuiko Four Thirds NOT M. Zuiko MICRO Four Thirds lens. So I bought the wrong item because I didn't check the specs fully!!! : -( If you have an MFT camera you need the LH-40 (B&H #OLLH40.

Easy to install

Joseph, olympusamerica.com
2 January 2014
  • Summary: I own the 14-150 mm lens with my E-PL1 (yes....I need to update my camera body) and the lens hood is as easy as changing a lens to the body of the camera. I have a UV filter on my lens also. I can get my lens cap on there....not easily but not difficult either. I have yet to shoot some photos with the hood. I just got it for Christmas.

Importance of lens hoods

photobug429, B&H Photo
20 August 2013
  • Excerpt: For some reason, Olympus does not provide lens hoods with their lenses. However, don't let that deter you from getting them for all your lenses. This is well made and does the job as needed. Just this week, I knocked over my tripod with a different camera/lens combo and the lens hood broke, but protected the lens and camera from other damage!
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Fit Lens Properly, Lightweight, Reliable, Well Made
  • Cons: No Cons That I Can See

Should have been included with the lens

Ned, B&H Photo
9 April 2013
  • Excerpt: I only give it 4 stars due to price, otherwise it is a very good product. This does the job it is meant to do but Olympus should have included what amounts to ten cents worth of plastic with the purchase price of a $500 lens.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

OK lens hood

r2geek, B&H Photo
13 February 2013
  • Excerpt: It seems to help some when using the 14-150mm lens outdoors. But does not seem to shade as much as is really needed @ 150mm.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Not Functional, Poor Design

  • Excerpt: This lens hood works well with the Olympus lens. But really Olympus should include these with the lens like Panasonic does.

does not fit the new 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6

javafool, B&H Photo
27 March 2011
  • Excerpt: I hated having to buy something that should come with the lens. I really bought it to fit my 14-150mm m43 lens and it does. I intended to use it for both the 14-42 and the 14-150, but the new 14-42 must be much smaller diameter than the original. It fits the lens I wanted [...
