  • Excerpt: I currently own 2 SB800 and a SB700. I bought this flash and it came with the Nissin PS-3000 for free (a $300 item). Its teoretically a great deal, but lets see how it performs in the field. I have shot 3 weddings so far, and so far so good, except for a few things. I will start with the positive first: The built quality of this flash pars with the SB910. Its definitely a big improvement from the SB800.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Powerful Output
  • Cons: Bulky, Heavy, No Gels, No Wide Angle Diffuser

  • Excerpt: I recently purchased this flash on sale with the battery pack for free. This has been truly unbelievable. I thought "I would never pay that much for a flash". Well I paid for the flash and got the battery pack for free. So far, its been working like a champ. This is a great update from the sb800. If you want easy controls with lots of power then please don't look any further. This flash keeps going and going. its only 2 button pushes to get to different functions.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Powerful Output
  • Cons: Bulky

Good solid flash

  • Excerpt: The MG8000 is powerful, has sturdy construction, and has intuitive controls. Unfortunately, unless you purchase the Nissin battery pack (which is expensive) the recycle time using rechargeable AA batteries is about the same as other flashes (about 1 second). The head of the flash unit is larger than normal flash units because it contains vents. This means that ordinary flash diffusers may not fit.
  • Pros: Durable, Fast Recycling, Powerful Output, Versatile
  • Cons: Heavy
