Excerpt: I use this hood for every shot with my 50mm fast lens to prevent lens glare. It serves it's function, and the threading doesn't bother me. It feels very secure on the lens that way. The flexible material is so great. I was worried about it fitting in my case since the camera just fit without the hood, but it works perfectly when it's collapsed down!
Excerpt: I needed a lens hood for my 50mm prime lens. I like the collapsible nature of this hood because it can fit pretty flat in my camera bag. However, it is a threaded attachment and not as easy as the newer hoods for Nikon's "G" lenses.
Excerpt: I purchased this for the Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF Lens. I like the collapsable aspect of this hood and the flexible material it's made from. The thread mount makes it a bit more difficult to attach than the hood for the newer f/1.4G lens. Still it's what's available for the lens I have and is definitely needed to help with lens glare.
Excerpt: I've been meaning to get a hood for my 50mm and this works great! The soft rubber is so much better than the hard plastic and it's nice how it collapses when storing the camera with the lens on. I can't believe why I waited so long to get one of these. This has nothing to do with it's function, but having the hood on a small lens like the 50mm makes it look more balanced when using a flash.
Excerpt: This didn't fit my Nikon 50mm 1.4 AF-S. I was very disappointed, because the description said it would fit a "50mm 1.4"...didn't realize the AF-S made a difference in the size. Not too happy that I'm going to have to send it back. If anyone out there know where to find a rubber hood for the AF-S lens, please post here!
Excerpt: The Little 50mm Nikkor lens looks a bit dwarfed sitting on my D700..and I have bumped it slightly at times...NOT any more,it sticks out,is firm yet flexible...and adds character to my little lens, somwhat like a tuxedo would.
Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction
