Excerpt: When I lost my lens hood in Europe while pointing the lens downward photographing the southern Portugal coastline, my lens hood sipped off and fell down the slope. The replacement has two large flanges and two smaller flanges.
Excerpt: HB-50 bayonet lens hood works very well on my Nikon D610. easy to use, lightweight and reliable at all focal lengths. the only con is that it tends to be a bit fragile. the threading mechanism has broken a number of times and needed to be replaced.
Pros: Compact, Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight
Excerpt: As has been commented before, this sole alternative from Nikon is very much lacking. This purchase was for a slightly used Nikon original part, however, it has the same features as a new one. The hood is just too flimsy (very light plastic) and comes off too easily from the lens.
Excerpt: Does the job of shading the lens. Sadly, it falls off easily and the plastic breaks with a short drop (less than a foot) that does nothing to the lens or camera (D7000). I am sure Nikon can do better.
Excerpt: Bought this as a replacement to the one that came with the lens. That's the only reason I don't give it five stars -- I just wish it were more durable. I've shot with the lens hood on all my shots with the lens.
