HB -48 Bayonet Lens Hood

Luis, B&H Photo
24 June 2015
  • Excerpt: This is the manufacturer's replacement for the hood that comes with the 70-200mm 2.8 G lens. If you don't have one , get one . This hood not only works to block any uv rays that hit your sensor when shooting in harsh lights but also protects the lens when not in use and placed back over the lens.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable

Buy the original

  • Excerpt: I keep the hood on my lens because I am often climbing or crawling around for the shot. I use it as protection more than a sun shade. That proved to be an accurate use when I fractured the hood along the riverbank. No, super glue did not work. Bought the original to be sure of fit and reliability.

Exact replacement

23 March 2015
  • Excerpt: This is an exact replacement for the hood on the 70-200 2.8. Just what I needed. Seems a bit pricey for a simple piece of plastic, but that's what OEM stuff is.

  • Excerpt: I had to buy this for someone else, so I didn't want to buy a less expensive 3rd party version. If it were for me, that's exactly what I would have done!
  • Pros: Fits Just Right

Performa As Expected

Rarebreed, Adorama
22 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Use hood predominantly outdoors during sunlight hours. Performs the task but should be more durable meaning less sensitive to jarring/breaking as easily particularly conasidering the cost.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Not Durable

Nikon quality lapse

Theo, Adorama
1 May 2014
  • Excerpt: This product is designed to replace the hood on the 70-200mm VRII. It does that, but falls short of the quality of the older VR-I lens hood. It is much thinner material that is easily broken. It will not provide the same level of convenience as its predecessor.
  • Pros: Easy To Use
  • Cons: Poor Design

Exact replacement

1 April 2014
  • Excerpt: This hood replaces the broken one for my favorite action lens, my 70-200mm VR II. It fits perfectly. There is no discernible difference between this one and the original equipment hood that came with the lens.
