Works great

svencz, J&R
17 February 2009
  • Summary: Pros: - accurate - convenient and simple to use - quick warm start-up (3 seconds or less) Cons: - on D90 the built-in cannot be opened and used while installed in the shoe (it can be attached to the strap, so not a major issue) - the cable is too long (again not a major issue, but if a shorter cable is available as an accessory, I'd buy it) - cold start could be quicker
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable
  • Cons: Poor Design

Works as advertised

Digital Photographer, J&R
8 January 2009
  • Summary: Works great, takes a little time to acquire GPS signals. Typically the first time 1-2 minues. The unit fits into the camera shoe so the built-in flash is no longer useable. Has a clip if you want to attached to the camera straps. The connector on the GPS unit seems a little tight.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Reliable
  • Cons: Bulky

Does what it says on the tin

Bird Brain UK, WEX
19 September 2013
  • Summary: It works well but as with any GPS device sometimes it takes a while to pick up a GPS signal. You just plug it in and go.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight

Think is it really for you before buying

Alun, WEX
25 January 2011
  • Summary: Adds about 5 seconds to the lag between seeing a picture and being able to take the picture with the coordinates in EXIF if you keep the camera in standby and can be up to 45 seconds if turning the camera on each time to take a picture
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight

Nikon GP-1 GPS Unit...

19 June 2010
  • Conclusion: It is the perfect gift for the traveller. I am in love with this device - especially as I travel a lot and love the outdoors. I would recommended this any day.
  • Pros: works well, it is sometimes a little slow to locate itself in a new area, but overall it works pretty quickly and is very easy to use. It is such a great feature for travelling and beautiful landscape / outdoor pictures. And I thought it would drain my battery and it doesn't at all.
  • Cons: It is a lot of fun, besides the fact that there may be a 10 second delay sometimes, there is no real issue with this little device.

Einfach und unkompliziert mit mittelmäßiger Ausstattung

GPSpezialist, Ciao
7 April 2009
  • Pros: Gutes Design, gute Verarbeitung, einfach, original Nikon
  • Cons: Keine Indoor Funktion, kein Ein - /Ausschalter, kein Kompass, kein Logger
