Excerpt: I accidentally splashed some fresh water on my unit and after a day, the twist mechanism (for viewing angles) turned a little tight already. I had to dissamble the unit and clean it from the inside, but it was never the same. all in all, this item is a must for landscape and macro shooters. if you are hesitant in getting one, i suggest you try it out and feel the ease and difference of shooting with a DR6.
Summary: Performs exactly as I had hoped. No more lying the ground trying to get those ground level shots. The only drawback is you cannot see the camera settings through the viewfinder when using the 2X setting.
Summary: I use this product the most for studio shots - esepcially if the camera is aiming down or if the tripod is very low. It saves me a lot of bending over and other awkward angles to see through the viewfinder. It rotates 360 degrees which makes it very convenient for just about any angle.
Summary: I used this with an 800mm Solid Catadioptic lens on my D300 to photograph the Moon. This lens focuses through infinity, so focus at infinity is very tricky. The 2x switch on this right angle finder helps immensely. The NIKON OPTICAL QUALITY of the finder makes focusing relatively easy! I can't wait to see what a differnce this finder will make with macrophotography.
Summary: Great help for low level photography, especially macro but any odd angle will benefit. The viewfinder has the possibility to adapt to your particular eyes but unfortunately the setting is typically not the same for normal viewing and 2x enlargement. This means that if you switch to enlargement you most likely have to adjust the focus, looking at the focus grid in the view finder of the camera to adjust focus while the subject itself might be in or out of focus.
Summary: For low angle shooting this is a must have item. Shooting children, pets, macro-plants, flowers, and insects. Excellent and low extreme angle imaginative compositions. This will change the way you shoot and open up a whole new world for you. You don't have to get down on your on your knees & bellie. Excellent quality too.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Improves Function, Lightweight
Summary: Pros: The DR-6 has crystal clear viewing in either the 1x or 2x mode. The focus control works better than expected. Cons: The retention springs holding the DR-6 to the D-40 viewfinder does not apply enough pressure to hold the DR-6 securely in place, allowing the DR-6 to wiggle, although it won't fall off.
Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
