Summary: I've bought the Hero2 months ago and I'm astonished by the toughness of this product. I do snowboarding, windsurfing, MTB, down-hill and I've lost the count of how many times I crashed in the ground, having more scratchs on the helmet than the cam itself. It's really a good product! As many people here, I've bought this "bacpac" to replace the LCD, happy of the remote bonus that sounds very useful when I wear the cam on my helmets. The verdict is that I'm disappointed.
Summary: I totally trusted GoPro on this one...I was at the store to possibly buy the LCD pac. I saw there was 1 Wi-Fi combo kit left and only $20 more...I read the package and saw about the smartphone control and live view. The only stipulation on the box was the live streaming would need additional software later to be released - NOT ANYTHING about the app not being available. I have a MacBook Pro and the firmware updates were not that hard and went smooth.
Summary: Dont get me wrong, I love my Go Pro! It is wrong for them to advertise this product only to find out that they shoved it out the door before it was finished. The firmware update was problematic to say the least and the promised Live streaming is still not available. If you want it as a remote control it works, if you want streaming, sorry!
Summary: Gropro is amazing, but is shipping the wifipack before it is ready. The app is not online and after you get your wifi pack and remote control get ready for hours trying to update firmware on the camera, wifi and remote. You must download software before updating and it was not easy for me, I gave up trying to update on my Mac and eventually was able to do it on windows (following a friend's suggestion that had the same problem).
Summary: I purchased this product the day it came out so I was not lucky enough to get the warning that you guys have. First when I go to update all the firmware cineform freezes on me I thought it was my computer but come to find out it does this with everyone. I had to close cineform while it was updating.
Summary: Product comes with vague instructions to download firmware before you can use it. Updates were a major problem and needed several support calls to GoPro. Finally they could not help and the Bacpac stopped working completely! Now I have to wait several weeks for a replacement because I'm based abroad. Not a good experience.
Summary: The instructions say you must update the firmware in the HD Hero but the firmware is not available on the website. The download page shows the new firmware as being released on 6/4/2012 but there is no where to download it. Edit: No telephone support and no response to email but it seems they have now fixed their website so that you can download the firmware. After multiple tries, the camera finally accepted the new firmware.
Summary: I was very excited to buy this accessory for the camera/video recorder as i wanted remote control as well as live viewing of what it was recording. I didn't get either. 1. my remote will not connect to the wi-fi bacpac for the life of me. i've tried over and over and followed directions but it will not work. nor will the remote update when connected to my computer for some reason even though the wifi bacpac will. email to support, no response yet. 2.
Summary: I purchased this product from a retailer the day it came out. I too was excited about the potential of the smartphone/tablet integration that was talked up. But before then, let's go into the adventure of getting it working I am fairly new to the GoPro (Purchased by Hero 2 HD a few weeks back), so when I initially got this remote, I needed to do firmware updates. It took me about 3 hours to get that working.
Summary: GoPro like their * and small print. If you get this for the remote viewing you're going to be dissapointed for a while., GoPro doesn't have the app, and doesn't have streaming from the device yet. So what do you get? You get the ability to turn the camera on and off, and change it's settings remotely. A little irritating that you open up the box and the first thing it says to do is update it. I understand why this happens, but it's irritating.
