The indespensible MT-24EX Macro Flash

Wil, B&H Photo
1 October 2014
  • Excerpt: This is a must have tool for 1: 1 macro work, especially with live subjects. The unit is light weight, easy to attach, and easy to adjust. With the latest Canon EOS digital SLRs, the flash provides splendid light using ETTL and the flash exposure compensation adjustments in the camera. The built-in focusing lights of the MT-24EX are a game saver in low light and nighttime shooting situations. I can't wait to see what they do for the much needed updating of this unit.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Powerful Output, Versatile

  • Excerpt: I use this flash whenever I'm shooting macro. It's a great flash setup. It's very versatile. You have full 360 degree manipulation of the flashes and you can remove them to mount on a stand. You can also fire a third flash with the unit.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Powerful Output, Versatile
  • Cons: Not Interchangeable

Love it!

Wheezie, B&H Photo
7 August 2014
  • Excerpt: I have had this about a week and a half, and I haven't taken it off since I pu t it one. I use it with the Canon 100mm L macro lens and it opens up all kinds of new possibilities. I had played with the idea of getting one that was much less expensive, but in the end decided I wanted the quality, the versitility and the longevity. This Flash is everything I could have hoped for, it meets all my needs and more.

Buyer Beware!

Dos Gatos Photography, Adorama
5 August 2014
  • Excerpt: This is a wonderful light. HOWEVER, it does not come with all of the parts necessary for its use. You will need to purchase a Macrolite Adapter sized to the lens with which you plan to use it.

Fantastic Flash

Bill, B&H Photo
4 September 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought the 100mm 2.8L macro lens and a Canon extension tube about a year ago. Even in bright daylight, I couldn't get the results that I was hoping for (insects). I just didn't have enough light / speed. I was pretty disappointed and figured, I'd already spent well over a grand, I may as well throw in for a proper flash. If I have ALL the equipment, it then just becomes a matter of skill and technique.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Powerful Output, Versatile
  • Cons: Bulky, No Audible Alerts, Recessed Control Buttons
