Summary: I have to agree with the other 1 star reviewers on this one. Not as good as the Canon original. Unfortunately I really needed it for a 2 week trip and now cannot return it (over 30 days). It does charge and last a while but if you use the LCD figure it will be sapping power and then another recharge. I was duped by the Canon label on it as well. Not as advertised I would say.
Summary: It appears to me that the two LP - E8 that was shipped to me were "knock offs". Both does not fit properly in the Canon recharger. While it came with the correct markings on the battery packs, both could be knock offs. When inserted into the camera, it does fit. However, when it's time to remove them from the camera - it does not spring out like the original and has to be shaken to get lose from the battery slot.
Summary: Although it sounds like some buyers have received genuine canon batteries, I'll join the ranks of those who DID NOT. I use the T2i for video and so have two other 'real' canon batteries. This was was off-color, had blurry text (as another reviewer said) and didn't fit in the charger OR the camera. It did come in authentic-looking canon packaging.
Summary: I ordered this item and it was shipped from Commercial Solutions Consulting. It is NOT a Canon brand battery as pictured. I assumed that this issue was probably old and had been taken care of, but it has not. Buyer beware!
Beware not all sellers providing genuine Canon batteries

Summary: I paid $56 for what I thought was an OEM battery (manufactured by Canon). The battery pack I received appeared to be genuine, except for the following characteristics: 1. The battery strength meter in the camera goes from fully charged (all bars) to a flashing red "change battery" icon with no reduction in bars. This is an indicator that the battery pack is not genuine Canon. 2. The battery pack only lasts ~200 pictures with flash (the OEM pack lasts something like 450).
Summary: It works , but for short time. It does not hold the charges as long as the battery came with the camera. It says on it Made is Japan, but because writing is kind of faded..I am not sure if the information written on it is true?.
