Excerpt: I bought the lens adapter to use with a 58mm circular polarizer on the Canon G10. Unfortunately it vignettes the corners for the range of 28-38mm. It also causes issues if used at the extreme telephoto range (lens can strike polarizer). It works fine throughout the rest of the G10's zoom range.
Excerpt: I bought the adapter for my G-10 to use with a polarizing filter. It is a two piece adapter made out of a plastic. I still have not figured out why it is not one piece. The pieces can not be used separately, why not make a one piece item? Other than that I have no problems with it.
Excerpt: Nice to screw a polarizer filter or other types of filters. The adapter could be a few MM longer as the lens can hit the back of the filter when extended to telephoto which shuts the camera down. The indexing mark could be more visible.
Summary: Generally speaking this adapter is required for the g10 1.4x tele-converter. However its useful in its own right, which is why I think its sold separately. Very little is written about this product so I'll have a go. Some may wonder why it's in 2 pieces.
Pros: If you know the risks and how to avoid them, you can use a wide range of filters at all zoom ranges with this cheap adapter. It can drastically improve your ability to be creative with the G10
Cons: These are minor cons, nothing to prevent me from buying, just good to be aware... when attached and using on-body flash vignetting in the lower right of images will occur. made of light weight polycarbonate, instead of more durable, nearly equal weight aluminum.
