"Meh" Quality

Howard, Adorama
27 May 2014
  • Excerpt: It does the job, but not nearly of the quality of the Canon FA-DC58C that it attempts to replace. It's debatable whether the lower cost offsets the loss of quality. I suspect that, if it were frequently attached and removed, it would prove less durable than the Canon original.

Works Correctly

Huddy, Adorama
18 February 2014
  • Excerpt: I purchased the Canon brand adapter for the simple reason, I expected it to fit correctly on the plastic lens bayonet mount and it does. Others may work as well, but my consideration was that the bayonet mount on the camera being made of plastic might break in time from undue stress from an after...
  • Pros: Fits correctly, Lightweight

Better than third party adapter

Andrew Scotland, Amazon
16 January 2014
  • Summary: Slightly disappointed with this adapter not having a firmer fit on camera. But I think this more down to the camera having a poor plastic bayonet fitting.

Does what it should, but...

The Eagle Guy, WEX
21 November 2013
  • Summary: I bought the holder and a circular polarising filter and I found that it really worked very well with the G1X. So this option is a great plus, especially when using the G1X for landscape photography.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Firm Mount
  • Cons: Filter Sticks, Weak Construction

I'll stick with the Canon product

Mr Strathmore, Amazon
11 July 2013
  • Summary: I know that this is an expensive accessory for something that should probably have been included on the camera itself. I would expect people to do a fair bit of research and know about this before they make the purchase of the camera; not a cheap purchase anyway.

Lee RF75 filters can be used on your G1X

PhotomanPaul, WEX
13 March 2013
  • Summary: A nice addition to the G1 X and means that the superb Lee Filters RF75 mount and filters can be attached to the G1 X, result!

Accessory for the G1x by Canon.

Mike W., Amazon
18 February 2013
  • Summary: The Canon Power Shot G1x camera is a serious piece of kit. Be aware however that when in use, the Canon FA-DC 58 C Filter Adapter does not allow for the use of the Canon accessory (LH-DC70) lens hood.

Does the job, but expensive and flimsy.

Rog, WEX
8 November 2012
  • Summary: Although expensive, plus a filter, it is unfortunately essential to protect the vulnerable lens on the G1X. Don't assume its easy to swap filters on it, as it binds itself quickly to the filter. Thankfully the quality of pics make the cons bearable.
  • Pros: Corrects Design Omission, Easy To Use
  • Cons: Expensive, Looks Ugly, Weak Construction
