Excerpt: Like another reviewer I had a continual problem of the hood falling off. I was lucky several times as others notified me when the poorly fitting hood fell off with the slightest bump. Recently my luck ran out. I returned from an event to discover the hood was long gone. I have several top quality Canon lenses and this hood is the only one who loves to play the disappearing act. Beware!
Excerpt: I lost the original on a shoot. Took a chance on an off brand. Looked the same. Under $. Used it once. Took forever to thread correctly. Horrible vignetting. This is just one of those items, worth buying the real thing. I ordered the wrong one initially. B&H returns and refunds are a breeze.
Excerpt: I have the original that came with the lens when I purchased it about 15 months ago. About 2 months ago the hood stopped locking on the lens. Now, it rotates almost freely on it's own and I have to make sure it's on straight before taking any photos otherwise it gets in the shot. Half the time I just leave it off. I'm disappointed that the locking mechanism only survived about a year. I'll probably save some money and find a knock off brand which will work just as well.
Excerpt: I am so annoyed with this purchase. The fit is so poor that at a recent event the hood fell off my lens three time within two hours. The "lens release" button would make you assume that the hood locks into place. NOT SO! Twist the lens on and it doesn't lock...you can easily remove it by turning it in the opposite direction and if your camera is on a strap....you'll never know it's fallen off. Who would I call at Canon to tell them that this product is garbage?
Pros: None Don't Buy
Cons: Falls Off Easily Bad Fit, Release Button Ineffectiv, Very poor fit
