Summary: BP-511 compatible with a lot of Canon digital camera and camcorder, so they are many 511/511a battery on the web except those in pricegrabber.com, like www.canon-digital-came... But it's hardly for us to find a 511 battery both have a great price and high quality, look forward the price drop of the OEM battery.
Summary: I always tell my friends. When you spend several hundreds or even thousands on something, don't get cheap accessories for the expensive gadget. That is why I prefer the Canon brand battery for my Canon EOS 40D over any generic batteries despite the price of the generic ones are far less. The Canon can hold a charge for a very long time. You can shoot more than a thousand of pics with one charge. I doubt the generic ones can hold this much.
Summary: I bought this as a spare battery for a Canon HV30 camcorder. It is rated to 1450mAh (vs. 1200mAh for the battery that came with the camcorder) and holds its charge longer. With the original battery, I get about 50 minutes of use. With the BP-2L14 it's 90 minutes or more.
Pros: Genuine Canon battery, 14mAh, longer life than battery that comes with Canon camcorder
Summary: On a single charge you can easily shoot around 500 to 600 pictures easily. Even if it is a little more expensive, this battery is definitely worth it. You wouldn't have to worry about diminished battery charge or leaking batteries altogether. A single battery should last you around 4 to 5 years of use. You've already bought an expensive camera, why not give it the best battery for it as well? You won't be disappointed with this battery.
Pros: It's a Canon, don't settle for anything else.
Cons: A little more expensive that generic brands.
Summary: I bought this battery to fill in the second battery slot in my Canon 40D battery grip. With two of these, I feel like I'll wear out before the batteries ever will. The camera just keeps on chugging along with the two, even after taking 1400+ photos of three separate sporting events (1 football game, 2 soccer games) over a weekend. I have yet to completely deplete the batteries even with a few days shooting.
Pros: Lasts a long time, charges quickly, compatible with a decent number of Canon devices
Summary: When you want reliable battery power, definitely get the original canon battery because they are made at the highest quality standard in Japan. I've purchased other off brands before but they either have short life or they die on me in a matter of weeks or couple months...definitely more costly in the long run..because my canon originals still works flawlessly. 500-600photos on one battery in eos 40d dslr..I think is perfect..
Pros: Canon Original..quality guaranteed Long battery life
Summary: Yes you pay the premium for a Canon brand battery but it should be well worth it. They actually do last longer than my so called 2000mah batteries from Sterlingtek. And if not used for a while they discharge slower and the charge is kept longer.
Pros: Made by Canon, the discharge rate is longer than SterlingTek batteries, Warranty, They last long.
Summary: I ordered three of them because of the price advantage. Most of our shoots are over three hours long so we can not be without spare batteries to insure no failures due to lack of power and these fill the bill.
Pros: Most attractive price found.
Cons: Contact cover too tight. extra force needed to remove from the battery.
Summary: A great battery for your camera investment! Why would you choose an off-brand battery to save a little money? This battery holds its charge and is recommended by Canon. It isn’t worth the risk to try anything different for my DSLR.
