Summary: I am also wondering why this product gets so many negative reviews. For the price paid, it meets expectations. I don't like the fact that it lacks a manual focus, but I create a lot of still shots for my home movies so it is not too big of a problem. The touchscreen is fine. The mics are on the front of the flip-out, but that's not a problem for me either because I usually add audio tracks to my home movies later during the editing, so I nearly always film silently.
Summary: I'm a long time Little League coach and I bought the X100 to film my pitchers and hitters. It has a 720p at 60 frames per second that gives twice as many frames as a normal HD camera. The 720p mode, is lower res than full HD but I've found it more than adequate for sports analysis with the added advantage of the files being a quarter of the size for uploading. I upload the video to PowerChalk.com and can use their web service to analyze the clips.
Summary: This is the first movie camera I have ever bought, and so far, I'm very pleased with it. It has smooth action and plenty of extra features. The only thing that troubled me is that the battery life is pretty short. As far as I can tell, you could shoot about 30-45 minutes in HD and your battery is pretty much shot.
Summary: I used a HD video camera at work one day, and was amazed how much advancement in the video camera industry. I especially liked the idea of not needing film, and using memory cards instead. The sound pickup quality is good, but I wish the camera had a audio input port for a wireless microphone. The zoom works very well, but there is some focus issues while zooming. This has been a great camera for family parties, vacations, and other events.
Summary: I purchased the Camileo X100 several months ago from Walmart.com with a tripod, case, and SD card for a killer deal (Christmas special). The camera works great for the most part. Pros: The camera is very easy to use and has 1080p/30fps and 1080i/60fps. The touchscreen menu is great and so is the time lapse special effect. Cons: The slow-motion is not clear, at all. It is still cool, but not nearly as clear as time lapse or regular HD.
Summary: I had purchased this camera about 3 weeks ago and I have used it pretty much everyday since I had gotten it in my hands. The Optical Zoom is great, though once you pass the "predestined" line, it does it a bit shaky. The color and sound is crisp, so that is very pleasing. It is also very easy to use! I love the touch screen, it makes my life easier.
