Remote not working and poor customer service at Toshiba
28 December 2012
Summary: My husband got this for Christmas. He cannot get the remote to work, and the customer service department at Toshiba has been absolutely no help. The online manual says absolutely nothing about how to work the remote and I can find nothing online that helps. I'm thinking that this Camcorder is going back to the store.
Summary: I have a Camileo x416 and every time you turn the camcorder off and back on you have to manually go in the video setting and reset it to imprint the date on the photo/video. It is very annoying. I don't understand why the camcorder cannot remember the setting. Does the Camileo x400 do the same???
Summary: I agree with the comments so far. However, I have found that if you pause the recording immediateley after pressing the record button (pause kicks in after about 4 seconds)then generally speaking when you unpause and start recording the blurriness seems to be less obvious. I know this is something that you shouldn't have to do as Toshiba should have created a camcorder that has a good focus regardless of cost, say like the Sony Handycam of old.
Summary: I bought this particular model because of the low price and excellent zoom. However the two main bad points are the sound quality and the difficulty downloading video recordings onto my PC. The sound is just not right, on playback the pitch has been changed as though the sound is slightly speeded up. To download video I have to use the software that came with the camera and cannot transfer recordings direct to my PC hard drive. Instead I have to search for them.
Summary: As per my title.....it is cheap....and as a result its just cheerful. The quality is top notch but that's where the positives end. So what's not good? - Battery not great - doesn't last as long as it needs to fill a 16Gb card - Freezes from time to time and needs a battery pull to reset - Has problems focusing. Will focus in and out for a while before locking in - this is hugely annoying when it happens I would recommend it at half the price...
Summary: I honestly thought this camera was amazing! I bought it for a bargain (£80) off an official eBay discount direct shop. I honestly could not complain about anything about this camera, except for the sound. The sound was disgraceful when i bought it, i wasn't sure whether it was just faulty or the camera in general just didn't have a good audio system.
Summary: Bought this camera because (almost alone among it's contemporaries) it allows the use of plug-in microphones. This is brilliant as you get good quality audio from a cheap microphone. It is compact, light, easy to use and (apart from the autofocus) produces good pictures. The autofocus is hopeless however.
