Excerpt: I would love t give 5 stars because the pictures this camera is delivering are awesome. There is a "little issue " in auto focus....the camera is loosing sometimes contrast in fast action and by the way loose auto focus and blur the scene.= garbage By experience, having shot a lot of wildlife with this camera i will go manual focus for capturing horizons and panoramics views, where the camera can loose contrast. and use auto focus for subjects in a close distance.,.
Excerpt: I made the jump to the PMW-200 XDCAM format from HDV a year ago. It was a big step up in terms of cost and complexity, but very much worth it in terms of quality. Going to a card-based format was not without some downsides. HDV tapes are a very convenient, low cost "built in" backup, and the files take up much less space on a hard drive.
Excerpt: I bought this to learn on in film school. While the other kids are messing around with different prime lenses on their reverse engineered dslr, I am shooting one set up after the other. The camera is a sold performer, the dynamic range reaches into the shadows and the blacks are almost noise free.
Excerpt: Hi, I have this camera, confirm the problem of autofocus is very unstable and I want to warn all owners or prospective buyers about a technical issue on this model.Part support (grip) is entirely plastic which breaks under the weight room while filming with her hand. Big inconvenience if this occurs during an event, this inconvenience we had.Sony Company should review the biggest problem, besides others mentioned the customers.Pictures exeption, beautiful image, perfect...

Excerpt: I own the original EX1 and an EX1R. With great success with the EX1 then a dismal experience with the EX1R, I was hesitant on the 200. However, the improvements are great and the camera is wonderful. HOWEVER, I shoot lots of footage with moving subjects and I am finding the auto focus cannot keep a steady focus field while the camera is in a full wide focal range. I don't have this problem with the EX1.
Pros: Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: This is our first compact camera. We're using it with our bigger, Sony XDCAM disk cameras. There is a learning curve for us to get used to the different layout of this camera compared to the bigger cameras. However, it follows the standard Sony conventions, so if you know Sony- you won't get lost. I accidently hit the white balance button in front one time while running and gunning. The picture quality is terrific.
Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
