Summary: Not much to say about this other than it's great. If you are just starting with video, then the vg30 is a great place to start. If you are a pro, you may be disappointed at the lack of control over things like saturation, but it does what it needs to do at it's price point. If you are looking for more control and still relatively cheap, you can look up the sony ea50.
Excerpt: This camera was purchased to take video of radio controlled model airplanes. There is a lot of motion and lighting changes. It has worked marvelously right out of the box. The video quality is amazing for both the video and stills. I love the telephoto lens. The only learning curve issue for me was to get used to the lens telephoto adjustment being on the lens and the left side as well. It works great though.
Pros: Awesome video, Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Telephoto Is Great For My, Zoom range/performance
Summary: This awesome camcorder is basically an NEX-6 shaped for video. The same sensor as the NEX-6 coupled with the right lenses provides excellent Bokeh. It's great for anyone who has invested in the E-mount lens series or who wants to get an adaptor and use Canon, Nikon, Leica, etc glass. I have paired it with Sony's 18-105 G lens and couldn't be happier with this camcorder.
Summary: Great movies also takes excellent stills that are on par with my Canon 70D. Motorized 10x zoom noise is my only gripe, but I generally prefer to zoom manually. In a noisy room such as a family event you won't hear it. 2x digital zoom does not result in a noticeable quality loss. I shot an event last week, used this camera for vids and stills, came out great. I don't know what the AVCHD/FCPX Mac fuss is all about.
Excerpt: As an old news guy who always tried to make my footage look more like film, this little gem is a blessing. I can produce an image that has that nice warm filmlike look with shallow depth of field in a size that I can carry anywhere, even on planes. I have the XLR adaptor so I can get great sound too. I'm retired now but I wish these were around back when I was on the street.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Summary: Every time I pickup the Sony NEX-VG30H I am truly impressed with the build quality. Calling this a "Handycam" does not do this camera justice, it is in a league of its own in terms of performance, build quality, image quality, and the superb user experience. The audio quality is very impressive for being onboard. Due to its sheer mass, holding the camera steady is quite easy to do.
Summary: I've been using this camera for a couple of weeks and I love it. I don't find the menu as hard to use as some people complained but then, I am not a professional videographer. I purchased a 4500mh battery and still get only 3 - 4 hour recording time, I wonder if there is anything that I'm doing wrong .... The picture quality is pretty nice for the price and it is really portable so you can take it anywhere from shows to trips.
Summary: This camera takes my video quality in to a professional level. The highlights of this camera is the apsc sensor and the interchangeable lens capability. The kit lens with power zoom is the one of the reason I bought this camera. The in camera microphone is just awesome more than enough for me . It also shoot quality pictures .Because of the sensor ,lens capability and manual control one can take professional quality pictures.
