All-around great product

Emily the Runner, B&H Photo
4 November 2015
  • Excerpt: I began my videography career with a small Panasonic HC series. I needed the video camera body to record long 2-3 hour plays and concerts. After a few years, I began using my Canon Rebel T3i for my short films to reproduce the popular cinematic look.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance

Fabulous little camera

29 November 2014
  • Excerpt: I have this camera and an EA50 and an a6000 still camera. I am fortunate to have a good number of lenses including 4 by Zeiss. All cameras get the same result so it is which form factor you want to use. I keep reaching for the VG30 because it is great on a tripod and a wonderful hand held tool.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality
  • Cons: No image stabilization

Great camera with a cinematic look

Keith T. Bruce, Amazon
24 November 2014
  • Summary: Great camera with a cinematic look. Works as a nice two shot with my Sony ea50. The 5.1 surround mic records, the audio in 5.1 and is great for getting background audio.

Awesome Camera!

David Sutherland, Amazon
9 October 2014
  • Summary: Awesome Camera! Power lens is great for long shot and super close-ups. Remote mic jack comes in handy but is easy to clip/overload if plugged in to a mixer. It is heavy for a hand held but most of my video is shot from a tripod. Bottom line I really like it. And would recommend it highly.

Great camera.

Casey Lemons, Amazon

  • Summary: Not much to say about this other than it's great. If you are just starting with video, then the vg30 is a great place to start. If you are a pro, you may be disappointed at the lack of control over things like saturation, but it does what it needs to do at it's price point.

Great Video-Dedicated Body

Unit 3K21, Amazon
8 May 2014
  • Summary: This awesome camcorder is basically an NEX-6 shaped for video. The same sensor as the NEX-6 coupled with the right lenses provides excellent Bokeh. It's great for anyone who has invested in the E-mount lens series or who wants to get an adaptor and use Canon, Nikon, Leica, etc glass.

21 January 2014
  • Excerpt: As an old news guy who always tried to make my footage look more like film, this little gem is a blessing. I can produce an image that has that nice warm filmlike look with shallow depth of field in a size that I can carry anywhere, even on planes.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
