Excerpt: I had the Sony FX-1 which was a tape based camera and wanted to upgrade to a card based camera. this camera has two slots for cards which is really cool, a large bay for the batteries and more added features. I've only used it once so far, but love it. it offers so many more features than the Sony FX-1. so, still learning it. But, very happy so far. it's a little bigger and heavier, but a really nice camera.
Pros: Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: We have seven of the NX5s and use them primarily for run and gun use. The dual media recording option is a great feature. The NX5's are also used in multi-camera live production shoots and are connected to our truck via the HD-SDI output. A great versatile camera!
Pros: Dependable, Dual Media Recording, Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Large Clear LCD, Sdi Connectivity, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: Douglas Spotted Eagle handles training well for both professionals and neophytes. When I received my Sony HXR-NX5 the menu options were more numerous and deeper than previous Sony Cams. Spotted Eagle clearly detailed the new options and how to make them work. I appreciate his approach, demeanor, and insights. Four stars given only because it was back-ordered for nearly four weeks.
Excerpt: 1-For long periods of shooting. 2-SDI output is a great thing when you have video switcher, time code generator it's a good thing to have when you use more than one camera. Price is not to bad neither. 3-Iris ring should have start and stop, not infinity.Same goes for the focus ring as well.
Excerpt: I use the NXCAM for shooting weddings and it works very well. I love the digital recording on SD cards! The camera has a pretty decent gain setting, although it can get pretty grainy. Over all, a good deal for the money.
Very versatile camcorder, but somewhat soft in low light
Jacques Tutite, Amazon
4 March 2014
Summary: I shoot a lot in low light situations, and found the picture a little softer than the Sony pro camera I had before. Very happy with the battery life and large storage of video this camcorder gives you. If you are reading this in March 2014, you may be able to get a $400 rebate from Sony: (Amazon won't permit links. so go to "pro dot sony dot com" and search around for the "rebates for all" info, good til 3/31/14.
Excerpt: Being completely new to the video world and having no prior experience with professional video equipment this DVD was very helpful. Yes, it did pretty much follow the instruction manual. But, if you have a more visual style of learning vs. reading manuals like myself then it is a great product. The video did go more in depth of merely explaining what the buttons and functions do and how the changes are reflected also. To the point...I would recommend.
Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Performance, Professional Quality
Excerpt: I do Family events, TV commercials, Sports, Web videos, and Business videos. I like the fact I only use the SD cards and bring the video into my desktop very easy. I wish there was a good video to watch on how to use the camera.
Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: How do you use the camcorder? Nature videography. How long have you been using camcorders? Since 1990. With this camcorder, you have a lot of Manual Control – which I like, If Auto doesn't do what you like – you can override it with the Manual Controls. Pros: • 20X Optical Zoom. • Several External Controls.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
