Excerpt: I bought the camera a couple of weeks a ago. My take: awesome in low light, high quality. Things I did not like: the unit felt unbalanced; power cord plugs in where battery goes; so battery can not be attached at same time. "A" card reader was was defective. Sent unit back.
Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom
Excerpt: I wish SONY paid more attention to PANASONIC on the viewfinder design. My PANASONIC AF 100 VF is big and sharp, even my SONY Z1U had a great one, BUT... this is NEVER EVER sharp. and very small. However..., in the end, with all my on-the job anxiety, the images are good.... whew !!! The flip out LCD finder is smallish as well.
Excerpt: Recently bought a NX5U. Over liked all the options for HD-SDI and HDMI out. Seemed very exapandable with the FMU unit, dual slot SD cards. However, upon first day of testing was very disappointed. First thing I noticed was noise in the blacks. I was even using -6 db gain which I think would crush blacks. Very noisy and less than desireable. Next the lens. You get a nice 22x lens which loses 3 f-stops fully zoomed. That didn't bother me as much as the CA.
Excerpt: After shooting my first event with this camera...I was shooting a wedding and at the reception, while looking at / monitoring my audio meters, I noticed that my U.V. meter display from the NX-5 were acting irresponsively sometimes and it took me all night to find out what that was. Here it is... It is the ZOOM that is causing a temporary freezing effect on the audio meters! Meter drops to half and reads verrry slowly.
Excerpt: I was so eager to get the NX5, until i finally got it like 2 weeks ago. I have only tested it out once, and the image quality is amazing, i can't say i fully understand all the functions of the camera so far being that i have never used a high end pro summer camcorder, but so far. I'm now in the process of learning the camera and it's functions, afterwards i would probably be able to provide a bette review, but as far as image quality goes, i find it to be great, no...
Pros: Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom
Excerpt: I would have better feelings for and a better review of this camera if the advertising was more accurate. The image quality is not nearly as great as they say it will be, and this camera is horrible in lowlight (but to it's defense, so are most cameras in this price range). I WOULD recommend this camera, but with cautious and realistic expectations.
Pros: Good Image Stabilization, Great Sound, Great Zoom
Cons: 0db is grainy, Not great with FCP, Poor Image Quality, Poor In Low Light, VERY noisey image
Excerpt: The video basically takes you through the camera's menu and explai.s each setting. It is still helpful considering the immense functions and capabilities of the Nexcam. It is a must have for a Sony newbie, even though I think it was a bit overpriced.
