A solid performer that may be starting to show it's age in an industry that demands bleeding-edge tech.

Summary: I bought this to use in my company's video production department and it has delivered quality video time and again. I bought this because of past reviews and the inclusion of XLR audio inputs. After several dozen uses, I have some pros and cons to share: PROs * Razor sharp video time and again. Bright, crisp images and great audio produced great results * The focus ring turns with just the right amount of resistance and response.
Excerpt: I owned this camera up until yesterday - that's over four years of experience with it. I wrote a review on August 10, 2010, and I thought I could share some experience and a more detailed review today on November 17, 2014. Selling it was bitter/sweet.THINGS I LOVED ABOUT THE CAMERA: Great picture quality when set up correctly.Good picture quality right out of the box.5+ Hours of battery life on a hi capacity batteryTwo card slotsHours of shooting time on two 32GB...
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: I had an older version of this camera that used tapes. I've always been pleased with Sony's line of HDV camcorders, and this is certainly an improvement. The extra small details and feaures and the solid-state recording are all things worthy of praise. In my opinion, the resolution (1080p/720p) is great, but isn't this going to be a little behind the times soon? Considering new resolution technologies on the horizon, I have to wonder.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom
Excerpt: Great for events and extremely great in low light situations.I use it for video documentation, and the qualityblows you off your feet. Can handle various attachments and all class 10 SDHC cards this saves money.

Excerpt: I bought the xf200 and thought I was doing some horribly wrong for a month straight - it was not until today when I bought the hxr that I realized first off, how poor the xf200 was in many different areas and secondly, how amazing the her-nx5u is! I used it for the first time today right after taking it out of the box and I cannot tell you enough that this is THE camera I was looking for ... amazing in low light and I used it with a light and it looked even more amazing.
Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: I use this to take videos of R/C model airplane building in my workshop and flying at various contests here on the east coast. This camera has more than enough features to allow me to take still closeups as well as distance shots with rapidly moving aircraft, in almost all outside and inside lighting conditions. Just using the camera in "Auto" mode produces spectacular videos and very little editing has to be done to remove camera induced errors.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom
Excerpt: I had the Sony FX-1 which was a tape based camera and wanted to upgrade to a card based camera. this camera has two slots for cards which is really cool, a large bay for the batteries and more added features. I've only used it once so far, but love it. it offers so many more features than the Sony FX-1. so, still learning it. But, very happy so far. it's a little bigger and heavier, but a really nice camera.
Pros: Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Summary: Never had a problem with this camera. Love it. Had it since Dec 2011. I mainly use it for talking head interviews for my business. They come out BERY professional. Remember this is a fixed lens. This has pros and cons. If your looking for crazy shallow DOF stick with DSLR. For a fix lens camera this does an excellent job. Also people are really touting 3k and 4k video. Of course that is the future. But the current standard is HD and will still be for some time.
