No HD-SDI output

Walt, B&H Photo
4 January 2016
  • Excerpt: We are converting our church video system to HD, replacing all wiring, switcher, and monitors in 20 locations. We purchased two of these cameras to replace our aging Sony SD camcorders. We didn't notice in the specs that the BNC connector on this camcorder outputs COMPOSITE VIDEO, not HD.
  • Pros: Great Sound, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
  • Cons: Limited Zoom

Good Bang for Buck

Mike, B&H Photo
20 December 2015
  • Excerpt: I bought this to replace an aging EX1. I film with light, and if I want shallow DOF I use dslr, so I didn't need another cam with 3 1/2" sensors. I like the ability to use SD cards, and to record to 2 cards simultaneously (1 for backup). I have not had an issue with dropped frames (audio or video).

Excellent price for an excellent camera with all the extras

David Owens, Amazon
9 October 2015
  • Summary: Excellent price for an excellent camera with all the extras. I've been a TV cameraman over 40 years & as I can see, everything is getting smaller & lighter, but keeping good quality. I had one small problem with the 1st video I shot with natural sound being recorded thru the camera's internal mic.

It's a workhorse.

Blake C., B&H Photo
31 July 2015
  • Excerpt: Coming from a DSLR background (Canon 60D) I was a little worried how a small sensor, fixed-lens camcorder would compare. I was very worried my work would go from cinematic to C-SPAN and back me in to a corner creatively.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom

About those 10 and 11 minute long video clips

the video man, B&H Photo
17 May 2015
  • Excerpt: I use this camera professionally with 2 sony nx5u cameras and they mix well. The nx3 does well in low light, not a lot of noise in the darker colors in low light or when gained up a little (9db).Video is crisp, clear, and has that sony color look, very pleasing to the eye but not totally...
  • Pros: Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance

Great Camera

JPrimm, B&H Photo
6 May 2015
  • Excerpt: As one reviewer said, wish I could write a response to the "10 to 11 minute" file thing. He thought it was an issue with the camera and sony replaced it as thinking it was defective.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
