sound settings and scene stop start

  • Excerpt: I have done four important live jobs so far with the camera and the sound has failed me four times. Really have to know what you are doing to avoid distortion and this is not easy on a live gig. Has manual and auto sound modes. Is great in studio environment with time and control on your side but will not take on another once only chance live gig. Camera looks and feels great and is easy to use but I have owned cheaper video cameras with better sound quality.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom
  • Cons: Poor Sound

You get what you pay for

  • Summary: I use this camera for wedding and event videography. I needed a cheap camera, quick. For the price, it is a decent HD camera. If you want an over the shoulder camera, this is fitting. However, the Standard shooting quality is poor compared to cheaper, 3CCD cameras. So basically, if you are looking for cheap HDV with an over the shoulder size, I'd recommend it. Otherwise, invest an extra grand and get a better SONY camera.
  • Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Simple Controls

7 August 2008
  • Summary: In use by public access cable TV station for event coverage. Good imaging, reasonably comfortable for hand held work. Needs eyepiece diopter adjustment or I just have not found it yet. Construction not overly sturdy. Great menu operation by using touch screen. Perfect for volunteer access users who are not pros.
  • Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls
  • Cons: Flimsy Construction, Poor Battery Life

  • Summary: This camera records a great HDV picture. Step Down to dv is complicated. My biggest concern is the camera is not rugged enough to hold up for very long if used professionally.
