"Incompatible with everything"

minnesota99, CNET

  • Pros: If you are an employee or major sharheholder of Sony, this is for you. Everyone else, avoid the brand.
  • Cons: Sony products can not be used with Macs (without major workarounds), and the literature and instructions for use are deliberatly misleading in this regard. Moreover, the default HD files can not be burned to use with a DVD player - only a Blu-Ray.

  • Pros: Nice auto-date feature for recordings. This camera is light-weight, shooting doesn't get tiring.
  • Cons: Zoom lacking a bit. I also wish it had view finder at times. No nite-shot is also a bummer, still have it on my digi8 camcorder and like it. package doesn't include hd cable :-(

  • Summary: I disagree there are better models such as the GZ-HD300. I compared the two in a store and the JVC picture looked better for around the same price. It has better specs too such as a larger CMOS sensor and the JVC offers more zoom at a higher bit rate of 24 Mbs and not 16Mbs like the Sony equivalent.
  • Pros: 80GB HDD
  • Cons: Average Picture

  • Summary: Was not impressed with indoor quality but when comparing to others is not that bad. I am more than happy with outdoor quality. Very compact and easy to use. For a price of AUD$770 for a HD camera, it is more than comparable with others of a similar price.
  • Pros: Outdoor picture quality is great
  • Cons: Not so good indoor quality
