Summary: I purchased this handycam because I hate carrying bulky cameras. The device does the job and is good quality Sony product. It is lightweight and easily fits in a pocket. So why did I give only three stars. The video function is good. However, the pictures from the camera is only OK. Something like 4 megapixels. Cellphones have more megapixels than that! Also, Sony had to include its proprietary connecters to power this camera.
Summary: The best Handycam i ever had. Its so sleek yet sturdy. Its made of Titanium and the shell is very strong and of superior quality. The display is crisp and clear. It does not come with a SD card but has a built in 4 hrs worth recording space in HD. Only thing i could wish is that it would give a better still quality in poor light condition.
Summary: I received this camera new and it took only a few minutes to get it up and running. The included battery was dead, so I let it charge completely. The on-screen menu was simple and easy to setup and configure. If you have big hands like I do, then you may have some slight issues clicking exactly on the icon/button on-screen, but not a problem or issue, just have to be ready for it. Overall, I can't say enough about the Zeiss lens.
Summary: The Sony TG5V Handycam Camcorder Is The Best Investment I Have Ever Made Considering That I Am A Videographer And A Photographer. It Has Superior Zoom, Great Picture And Image Quality And It's Perfect In Size For Those People On The Go!!! I Brought Mine From A Company Called Willoughby's Through Amazon, They Were Very Thorough And I was Guaranteed Next Day Delivery If I Chose It (Which I Did) And It Arrived As Promised!!!
Stable, delicious,pictures on big 50" plasma. Better than a flip-style camera - good all-round

Summary: PROS - I bought mine for $1500 so the price now is a huge plus!! - pocket size - good enough battery - STABLE picture - BEAUTIFUL 1080p in good light - GPS - Audio is surprisingly good. Compared to the flip cameras, that is. - works GREAT in Sony Vegas Pro - well made - strong metal (titanium apparently) - media files created play well on my three media players - popcorn, wdtv and asus CONS - poor low light (but it's tiny so why complain!
Summary: Excellent video quality as a high definition video camera. However, after less than two months, it failed internally due to corrosion. Exen though corrosion is a disqualifier for warranty, Sony stood behind their product 100 percent. Additionally, Sony technicians stated that his HD video camera was discontinued and replaced the unit with an upgraded Handycam. Sweet!
Summary: Bought this item for concerts, And has worked well.As has been said its low light capture is a little below average, I`ve recently recorded MUSE live in Melbourne, Set the cam to Standard DVD mode and volume level to Low this allowed 2 hours recording with the standard battery. It has the advantage of slipping into you top pocket nicely. It was my 2nd attempt at recording so I can only improve....check out the MUSE recordings on youtube.
Summary: Camera works great, holds a charge OK after a year. The only thing that I do not like is that it has terrible picture wuality in lower lighting. Even regular indoor lighting makes the video VERY grainy.
Summary: Good - size, menu, simple controls, build quality, video quality in good light, audio quality. Not so good - zoom wheel, exposure control/video quality in low light. Video quality in good light is impressive, comparing footage from the Sony Z1 HDV camera, the TG5 holds up very well. The compromised manual exposure control is frustrating, but as it's more a carry in your pocket for point and shoot situations I guess the camera fits the category it's marketed in.
