Excerpt: The Sony HDR-TG3E (or TG1 depending on where you live), by now (should be a discontinued model), is a very particular model. It has a lot of reasons to buy it if you find it and just as many to not. First off, something I really liked is the …
Summary: I bought this camcorder for a recent holiday having owned many Mini-DV camcorders before. These were getting too bulky to travel with and needed camera bags etc. Having done various bits of reading I stumbled upon this from Sony.
Summary: I hesitated between this item and the Sanyo equivalent. I used it for 3 months at which point the shutter failed to open and therefore I was unable to use at all. It was send back to Amazon who replaced it with a brand new one, great service there!
Grab it, grab it! With hands or a bargepole, grab it!

Summary: Sony's HDR-TG3E camera is a stunning hand held device. I use footage downloaded in its original format, and freely intercut with MPEG footage from my larger Sony video camera (HVR-A1E), without any problems. The secrets, for me at least, are, edit mixed or unmixed footage with PowerDirector.
Summary: This is probably one of the worst purchases I've ever made. The Camcorder is fine, easy to use, small, compact and does what it says on the tin. It plays fine on my flat screen TV and computers.
Summary: Make sure you read thoroughly before you purchase, the Camera does do 1920 x 1080, but it is interlaced and not porgressive (1080i, not 1080p) Which is something I missed but, it is not obviously advertised. Also the format is AVHCD, which will not play in most players.
Summary: Sony TG3 High Definition Digital Camcorder A really great piece of kit easy to use and great results .It is a pity that it only comes with a 4gb card for this price Sony could put in a larger one
