Summary: I've been using this camera for almost 3 months now. I really like the quality for the most part and having the video go directly to a digitized format is awesome. However, I do have some serious problems with a few things. 1. No USB connection on the camera body.
Summary: Plays back awesome video with HDMI onto the HDTV. Editing though is an absolute mess, included software next to worthless and the usual sony quirkiness is definitely messing up a good product. One more thing CMOS is not an approximation for CCDs. Buyers please be aware.
iMac friendly but the Jury's still "out" on this one...

Summary: I got this camcorder a few weeks ago and have tested it in a few different locations and under a few different lighting conditions. I bought it specifically because it was on sale, and it is compatible with my iMac (intel based).
Summary: I bought the Sony camcorder last month to take on a tour to Japan. The shipping was fast and free. Fortunately I tested it before going on tour. I tried to follow the instructions for loading the software on to my HP computer I bought about 18 months ago.
Summary: Ok let start buy saying that a colleage education does not mean crap! Now on to why I say this. As you are recording, the hard drive makes like a pop sound, and with the mic on top and right next to the hard drive, guess what? IT PICS IT UP!
Summary: I have not been through all the other reviews as I thought something as serious as this would have been highlighted early. When attempting One touch disc burn the message cannot find drive appears. I read the guide that comes with this model but there was nothing about this problem.
Summary: After reading all the above reviews it makes me feel that they must have been written by Sony employees. I've just purchased one of these cameras, mainly because I've had a long allegiance to Sony and have been somewhat disappointed to say the least.
Summary: Hi, firstly let me say that i totally agree with the other comments posted, yes this is a wonderful camcorder with the magnificent film quality , sound quality and build quality and the added bonus of a 40gb hard drive to store all your footage on - no need for tapes , dvd e.t.c. BUT...
