Summary: So I use this for mounting in a Class 8 (semi) rig and have been for nearly 5 years, and I use a Fat Gecko Camera and Camcorder Mount so I can have it as close to the front windshield as possible. The mount makes it so there is virtually no shaking, even when going over bumps. I have used the hard drive in the past, but the shaking and "bumps" causes the recording to shut down abruptly, and when it does, the screen will say "buffer overrun" or something to that effect.
Summary: It was not 5 stars because of the battery duration, but the image is sensacional on LCD full hd screen.Recording on hdd is very easy and preserves the quality. In the beginning there are too many options on the menu, but as you get aquainted, it becomes easier.I had to purchase a mini HDMI (expensive). It could come with the camcorder. The compatibility with vaio is poor because of lack of software to convert easily diferent types of media AVCDH,MTS,M2ts and you cannot play...
Would you ship a thousand dollar camcorder like a five dollar book?!!

Summary: The camera is a great product, no doubt about it~ There are plenty of reviews on that issue. But let's talk about the intelligence and customer care behind shipping an expensive, hard disk drive based camcorder in a box with zero protection. That's right, not one ounce or penny spent on preventing damage to a piece of delicate electronics that is shipped from across the country, in the middle of the winter!
Summary: I got this cam for around 850$ near thanks giving sales in 2008 and I am quite satisfied with the extra clear resolution that it provides... The only issues I have seen so far are two: 1. The videos when downloaded and played in a computer have a slight lag in voice to video rate.So voice is lagging behind the video. 2. In low light conditions at night , it just behaves as a common standard definition cam and has a hazy , grainy video. 3.
Great camera but need lots of CPU power to edit video

Summary: I moved from a Sony Hi-8 camera that we had for 5 years prior to this, and the first word out of my mouth was "Wow!" The tape-based camera was great for an NTSC camera. The video and audio quality were great for home movies and the occasional training videos that I used it for at work. Aside from the fact that it was a standard def picture, the biggest complaint was for the need for tapes. Needless to say, that old camera is now gathering dust.
Summary: Using this to records kids events, etc. Works fantastic most of the time. Camera does have some trouble at sporting events at dusk/early evening. Seems to have trouble focusing during these times. Awesome picture, features, etc. The software bundled does a pretty good job of importing videos. That is about all it can do. I am struggling to find real editing software for AVCHD. Thinking of just going with SONY Vegas based on comments from friends and coworkers.
Summary: Great little HD cam. Easy to learn and use. Crisp, clear HD shots and no more worrying about tapes. I only wish Sony would have kept the IEEE 1394/firewire port, instead of going with USB only.
Summary: Order made From Amazon Apr 28: shipment: Great on time no delay. Product easy to handle, simple and intuitive. Had my vacation in Irlando with my kid made great videos. Recodring time and battery time are excelent. Backlite mode and manual settings are more difficult to get used to. Stills shots however are dissapointing and the quality was less than expected.
