Summary: Good Handicam but very delicate The camera is by far wonderful in the quality of pictures and the ease of use but Sony in its aim to sell accessories did not provide any kind of wrist strap or even privition to add one that you can buy their solution is "Sony LCS-SRC Carrying Case" in spite of the warnings on the review I bought the case it. While it is a very good camcorder you need one hand completely dedicated to handle.
Summary: Expected More. But still worth the price. -Low light picture quality: vey grainy - pointless to shoot in low-light, must use a light, or the night shot. I am very happy that sony continues to incorporate the Nite Shot feature in to their cameras. This has been a sony staple almost since they started their Handycam line. Sony is the only one who that I know of that still has this as a standard feature. I think Samsung had it on a couple cameras.
Summary: First the camera itself is terrific. Great video from a compact size. I like the small size, it fits well in my hand, is easy to hold steady and the controls are easy to reach. The touch screen menu display is excellent and very user friendly. I use the viewfinder for shooting and find that to work very well. I have only shot a significant amount of video outdoors and in that light it is terrific. There is some slight pixelation when following a moving object.
Pros: Comfortable to Operate, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Simple Controls
Cons: Flashlight location, Mac Support, Still image capture
Summary: Poor manual, lack of firewire port, touch screen menu, no strap, all things that wouldn't add to much on this already expensive toy, and would upgrade it to a real prosumer camera category. I'm a little disappointed too with this strange format AVCHD, which has no interaction with standard and pro softwares, like Premiere, and there isn't so many options to shop around, like if it were a format that the industry is not getting along so well...
Summary: The 120Gb hard drive frees me from juggling tapes and with 14+hours of HD record time an entire 2-3week vacation won't require off loading. The jury is still out on the AVCHD format. The Sony supplied editing and playback software is very basic and 3rd party support is just now catching up. Image quality is good, certainly better than my SD video, but exposure latitude is a bit limited. Extra care must be used to prevent blown out highlights.
Pros: 14 hour record time, Great Picture Quality, Large hard drive

Summary: This is a brillant camcorder that I was on the point of buying to cover a holiday in Peru. HOWEVER if you look on the Sony web site for the handbook, you will discover that use above 3000metres will destroy its hard drive!!! I have spoken to Sony UK Technical department about this and they not only confirmed the above but also said that switching to record on the memory stick will NOT get round it.
