Summary: I have been watching this product since December last year when the prices came down to $700. At that time the MSRP was about $1000. Now the MSRP is $2000, and sale price is $1500. I will stay with my Hi8 for a while.
Summary: I don't own this product. I have been watching the price of it for a couple of months. The price of it now is even two hundred dollars more than it was two months ago. I think I would rather stay with my old hi8 camcorder now.
Summary: I buy it from your company, buy your company ship different product to me. I do not know why. I call and return it to your company. But I still did not get my money back. The custom service is also bad. I will tell all of my friends about it and suggest them do not buy any product from your company. I will not buy any product from your company again.
Cons: Basic software provided. No HD Blu Ray software, trial version only supplied. Disappointed in Image quality under various lighting conditions, especially indoors (Noise). The colours look faded as well. The 10M pixel stills don't look it.
Summary: Beware of the shipping on this product. The boxed camera was thrown into a larger box with NO packing to protect it. When the UPS box arrived, it had been crushed, scuffed, and kicked. Since this thing has a digital hard drive, I am amazed that Amazon would allow such carelessness. BE CAREFUL OF ORDERING ELECTRONICS OF ANY KIND FROM AMAZON.
Summary: Sony HDR-HC7 6.1MP MiniDV High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom I do not own this camera but please see my review of the HDR HC7 camcorder under that model information on Amazon. While Sony is barraging the market with new and innovative camcorders which do produce stunning video, it is product quality that becomes the issue if the camera has a problem. Sony customer service is incredibly frustrating and poor.
Summary: I was very excited about everything I'd read about this camera and happily bought one. However, the first time I used it for more than 20 minutes (which, alas, was after the time I could have returned it), the hard drive completely failed. I would get the warning "Buffer Overrun" or "Cannot Access HD" and it would shut down. After it happened once, the camera could not be used for more than 3 minutes without the same warning.
Summary: Too large for modern day video cameras. I recently compared the Canon Vixia HF10 (HF100) and believe both to be a better choice to the SR12. Although Sony offers 24p and 30p modes on their high-end broadcast equipment, Canon offers it both on the high end and the consumer line. The ability to record in 24p and 30p offers stunning video that has the feel and sense of motion when your kid is moving as opposed to the stark feel of 60i video.
