Go for the next model up SR11 & skip this

Thomas P. Keenan "tamt20", Amazon

  • Summary: This camera performs poorly in low light, as a matter of fact, when I used my 6 or 7 year old Sony TRV17 I could not tell a difference between the 2 pictures on my 50" Plazma TV. At least not for interior and low light video. Outside the picture was very bright and there was definetly a big difference between the two. I returned this one and splurged for the SR11. You get a 60gig HD, 10MP digital stills, and just a huge difference in picture quality indoors and out.

What A Jip

Brett Hanson, Amazon

  • Summary: Well I bought this at Bestbuy with all of the gift cards I received. I have A HD 16.9 TV so I thought this would work great with it. Well let me tell you something. Sony and I believe Panasonic have come up with A new video format, its called AVCHD and guess what? You can only play it back on A blueray disk player. sony has software programs that will convert it to be able to play on A standard DVD player but guess what?

  • Summary: absolutely horrible customer service - never recieved the item, already two month waiting for the refund! no replies to my email from neither Amazon or the company, do not even take a chance with these guys. I posted bad review once for other product and the company called me the same day to check what went wrong, these guys care less no matter how much you write to them or about them...

poor video quality

A. Soriano "future daddy", Amazon
28 March 2008
  • Summary: I returned this camera today as I was very disappointed with the video quality. The picture was grainy even filmed in the highest setting in bright light. Even tried the mini HDMI with no success. I believe that this is related to the compression used in AVCHD. I would recommend sticking with tape despite its lack of glamor. Tape has better quality video and is easier to edit. The Canon HV20 or HV30 is the way to go.

Worst buy

I. filby, Amazon
19 July 2009
  • Summary: I bought this camera off the back of the many glowing reviews it recieves on this website, but unfortunately have been hugely dissapointed in the product. On every level this camera is a let down. To start with the laughable life that the supplied battery provides is the first major flaw you will stumble upon. It is essential to buy a back up battery which is a hidden cost that could have been avoided by Sony simply supplying a satisfactory battery in the first place.
