Best camcorder I've ever owned, with only one irritation

Mr Fixit 2009, Amazon
7 May 2013
  • Summary: Great picture, great sound, reasonable battery life, enough manual settings to keep me happy in just about any situation (although I've found that the "Intelligent Auto" setting handles most situations quite well), and the Balanced Optical SteadyShot is simply *amazing*. Had some glitches when trying to use the direct copy to external HDD functionality, but it was with an older drive and a new 320GB GoFlex purchased just for this purpose has been flawless.

Wow

PantherMan, Amazon

  • Summary: This thing is great. Perfect picture. I got the extra battery which makes it a little heavier but well worth it. I play table tennis so viewing the video immediately with the projector is great. Instant feed back makes for better learning. I wish I had had this camcorder when I was coaching basketball and baseball. Touch screen menu and settings are straight forward. After a few trial and errors I was able to do what I wanted without reading the manual.

Nice resolution, so so projector

Chris, Amazon
16 February 2013
  • Summary: I have been playing/owned many camcorders. The resolution very good when play directly from this camcorder to a HDTV. I like the light weight and the new stabilization, its work very well when walking and recording at the same time almost no longer need a tripod/monopod. As for some improvement: 1) There is alitle delay for the lens to move into place due to the new stabilization. 2) The Lens hood seem to come off very easy.

Great Camcorder

Charles R. Clem, Amazon
5 February 2013
  • Summary: I had a minor problem getting the on-board software to download to my laptop (Dell XPS Studio, Windows 7), but a quick call to Sony tech support solved that problem. Now I am enjoying the great color and detail in videos. I am finding that shooting video (and the associated audio) is way more interesting and revealing than still photos. The detail in the video is as good as most digital still cameras in my view.

Very good camera and projector

Ash, Amazon
17 January 2013
  • Summary: The coolest feature is it stabilization of image and that too not using software correction but using the lens. You can literally see the lens fixated by looking into it. Even with zoom, it is rock solid. Extremely valuable feature. Other than this it is small in size and lightweight. With the accessories like speaker and mini tripod cum holder, it is simply awesome. The projector is not a gimmick. It really works and works well.

Great camcorder

cato1998, Crutchfield
29 August 2012
  • Summary: I bought this camcorder in May 2012 and in 2 months it has been from Indiana to Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Grand Canyon and 2 weddings. Yes, a busy summer and it held up great! The pictures and videos from it were great. Everybody that has watched the videos have been impressed with the quality of the videos. Even in low light. Granted it isn't professional level but still pretty good.
  • Pros: Large hard drive. Even a week in hawaii we didn't come close to using all the hard drive space. Of course we didn't record continuously but frugally and we still had plenty of hard drive space. We recommend a second (or even a 3rd) battery to record as the primary battery only lasts a short time. The built in software is easy to use and you can capture still images from the videos you shoot.
  • Cons: No shoulder strap. In fact, there is no strap at all to the camcorder. We bought a camera case and used the strap to it to attach to the camcorder. Also the battery that comes with it has a short battery life. You really need a second battery if you are going to go out on an extended tour of something. The hard drive space isn't an issue (provided you don't have it set on the highest setting) but the battery is. Also the built in software isn't compatible with apple c...

Sony SUCKS!!!

Vincent D'Souza "Vincy", Amazon
25 May 2012
  • Summary: Even though I had a good HDR-SR11 which is a 24p recording camcorder, I bought this HDR-PJ760V hoping I can easily record 60p video and create nice DVDs. But, once I recorded one of my very important video @60p I cannot copy that any where because there is not software for both Mac and Windows. Sony says this Camcorder is compatible with both Mac and PC but it doesn't say on their website that once you record it in 60p you're basically screwed.

NICE CAMERA WITH A VERY ANNOYING MAJOR FLAW

Sacred Art Clan, Amazon
14 April 2012
  • Summary: This is my first day using this camcorder & I'm sorry to say that I am truly disappointed with one very annoying flaw - the constant presence of annoying icons on the screen when recording in highest quality mode (fx), nightshot, or 24p. Icons appears on the viewfinder WHICH WON'T GO AWAY NO MATTER WHAT. In highest quality (fx) mode or in 24p, an icon appears to indicate that the camcorder is unable to take still photographs in this mode.

Simply the best Camcorder so far

Khaled, Amazon
31 March 2012
  • Summary: I did a lot of researchs before spending all this money on a camcorder This one has all the best technology of Sony camcorders and more Why to buy this one 1. Picture quality is superior, full 1080P which many other Camcorders have but the color quality is the best 2. The sound is 5.1 with wind sound reduction (we tried it outside in a windy day and it did a great job) 3.
