Great Camera

Michael M., Newegg
25 November 2007
  • Summary: Fairly expensive when I got it - about $100.00 more than it is currently.
  • Pros: Quality seems to be great. Settings are very straight forward.
  • Cons: Becomes unreliable when it comes to poor lighting. Not seen a light anywhere on the camera. Night vision mode is ok, but who works like that? :-)

Excellent Camcorder

Michael M., Newegg
8 July 2007
  • Summary: You need a pretty good computer in order to import your videos in High Definition. If your computer is lacking, then the import will drop frames.
  • Pros: Pretty good still-shots. Video is very nice and clear.
  • Cons: I required a different firewire head than the one provided, so I had to go out and buy one since it was incompatible with my card.

Great Choice!

Joe F., Newegg
2 May 2007
  • Pros: Let's be honest, the reason why we buy an HD camcorder is for the picture. The picture on this camera is fantastic. I zoom in on flowers and am able to clearly see the aphids sitting on the pedals. The touch screen LCD is a nice touch. Using features like the spot focus allow the user to touch th...
  • Cons: The only downside to the touch screen LCD is that sometimes you mistakingly touch the wrong button. It is definitely not designed for those with large fingers.

Excellent Quality of Video and Still Pictures

forumans, Amazon
10 April 2007
  • Summary: Video quality is excellent. 1080p video looks crystal clear on my tv. Even low light recording came out so perfect. XV colors are very vibrant and bright. Both 4MP standard photo and 3MP wide angle photo are excellent quality. In fact, I first thought of purchasing a separate still camera.

Outstanding camera

Dr. Funkenstein, Amazon
10 April 2007
  • Summary: I am extremely pleased with this camera. I have been shooting and editing video as a hobby for about 10 years and am thrilled with the image quality of this lens and the processor. If you are going to buy it, my only recommendation is to make sure your computer can handle editing HD video.

I'm loving it :)

C. Taylor, Amazon
10 April 2007
  • Summary: I love the camera so far. The still pictures as well as the video are truly amazing with the 1080i HD. I'm using it for my two passions - my family and paranormal investigations. For the latter Sony's Night Shot can't be beat.

Very impressive for home video use

S. Field, Amazon
10 April 2007
  • Summary: I am writing this as someone who is not a true videophile, but who nonetheless pays some critical attention to picture quality and ease of use. I have no interest in making any videos other than reasonable quality family videos. I have owned a SD miniDV camera for 7 years before buying this one.

Sony HDR-HC5

Kenneth Macleod, Amazon
9 April 2007
  • Summary: My Sony HDR-HC5 arrived in Canada in the condition as reported (As New). Thank you for your honesty in describing this product. I was in a desperate situation after my own Sony camcorder died, leaving me with no camcorder to play my DV tapes. Thank you.

An excellent camera for field work

C. Pellegrino, Amazon
9 April 2007
  • Summary: An excellent camera for field work, including night vision in ancient tombs, caves. Still superior in some ways to some of the newer equipment. A lot of capability in an extremely portable device.
