Summary: This camera works With ideal conditions, the camera can capture very impressive HDV footage, but with less light... it can be, well... not so good I got this camera for home use, I own professional Sony HD cameras, so Sony is always my top choice. For home use, its ok Note: The deck transports are very good for a camera this cheap, and the lens is above average. see ya!
Summary: I bought this while living in Hawaii and sold it a little before moving. The whole process of getting it from dv to file format was just too annoying for me. The quality of the video was pretty good, not as high as hoped. The slow motion capture was a nice feature, but was pretty restrictive. The compact size was great and it was relatively easy to handle on the go.
Summary: Good design, but I was disappointed with picture quality. Not as sharp as HD content is supposed to be, just a bit better than a DVD. Noticeable noise in low light conditions. The 2.1 megapixel matrix is obviously not sufficient. HDR-HC7 makes a better choice, but I haven't tried it yet.
Summary: This camcorder could have been great but for the imager upgrade. In my view it is a step backwards from Sonys previous top notch HDR-HC3. They changed the imager and pixel count to improve it but instead we ended up with a insignificant stills performance increase, a poorer low light performance and a inferior steady shot stabilisation system.
An excellent amateur DV camera - but will DV last?

Excerpt: For reasons which are not fully clear production of this sophisticated camcorder was stopped. But it seems that the whole DV tape system is being phased out. It is not as superior as the - much more expensive - 7 model, which is temporarily unavailable, but it remains a worthy successor to the DCR-TRV range. The HD 1081i format remains a gimmick so long as commercial TV at this standard is not yet widely available.
Excerpt: This is a really great product, quite compact and very easy and convinient to use, exspecially for those individuals who are not so good with technology like me!!!! It is also very easy to carry around with you, another great SONY product to add to their collection!!! The image is very clear and precise and can be adjusted using the easy to use controls/buttons.
Pros: Quite easy to use, you dont need to be extremly tecnological to use this product
Cons: you have to read the instructions in depth if you are not a very technological person
Summary: Im not going to make a camera rtdemmoncaeion because I dont get into still camera video too much. I will offer one piece of advice though. Before you buy your camera with video check the video format the camera saves video files with. The .mov file format is troublesome to work with. Not all viewing and editing software will work with all video formats.
