Excerpt: I ordered it on a Wednesday afternoon from B&H and it was at my door Friday afternoon, with free shipping! The overall picture quality is great but...I take videos of trains, I have a SONY DCR VX1000 and it is rock solid compensating for vibrations, with the HDR FX7 if there is vibration, it shows on the video no matter which of the 3 steady shot settings I use. For me it only rates 3 stars because of the steady shot, otherwise its a 5 star.
Pros: Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom
Video Productions of North Central Florida, Amazon

Summary: I have gotten many hours out of this camera since purchasing it. There is high quality, small in size but powerful in it's ability. My only drawback seen with this camera is that I would have liked to have had a more powerful zoom lens. I have found that the 20X zoom will not get me closer to the subject when shooting at a distance. I shoot many sporting events and it is perfect for following the action on a play by play basis.
Excerpt: I used the camera for shooting video of sporting events and live performances. The camera had some glitches which could have been unique to the unit alone. I wasn't sure, so I upgraded to the FX1000.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
Excerpt: I use this a lot for outdoor shooting, around the world with auto focus ON. Recently I did some studio shooting, and of course went to manual focus to better control everything. Much to my surprise, the camera has a terrible back focus problem. When I would zoom in and focus manually, and then zoomed out, it was way soft. At a distance of 4 meters, the camera had to be re-adjusted to 12 meters to sharpen the image.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Great Picture Quality, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: Nice overall camera, if I only had 1 I would keep it, however I have 4 FX1's and 3 HC1's and try to color match this one with the other two is TERRIBLE!!! That is why I am getting rid of it. Other than that I like the camera and nice overall features and picture quality. Low light also an issue...
Pros: Great Picture Quality, Zoom range/performance
Cons: Confusing difficult controls, Poor In Low Light, Poor Sound
Excerpt: I use this camera for filming snowboarding and skateboarding and any other general filming I may need to do in every day life and for college. It is a great camera. Very nice bright light performance but gets somewhat grainy when the lighting is very low. Also poor image stabilization when zoomed in. The picture is beautiful and the colors are bright and vibrant. Good settings. However, I would expect a little more out of it for the price.
Pros: Great Picture Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD
Cons: Poor image stabilization, Poor In Low Light, Poor Still Image
Summary: i compared this camera on auto with my ux5 shooting the same sunlite scene and to my surprise the consumer grade camera had a brighter picture. in low light the fx7 was dazzeling. but for the difference in price(5 times higher) i send it back to amazon for refund really really surprised amazon service superb
Excerpt: The reason this camcorder is so cheap or reasonable is because it compresses the signal to Mini DV at mpeg2. If you are going to use this camera to edit video, consider what it will look like after you compress it again to a DVD, which is mpeg2! Double compression! Unless you can afford a HD hard drive directly out of the HDMI, you're gonna wish you didn't buy this one. I say spend a little more and get the Canon XA1 HD cam.
Excerpt: "...simply a upgraded product from sony aiming at high-end consumer or smei-prosumer market. Here are a few weakness I found on the camera: 1/4'' 3CMOS Lense. It's not even as good as FX1E's 1/3''. No XLR professional sound input. It won't transfer Data in HDV format with it's i-link firewire. You will have to use component. The only good thing about this version is that it has HDTV output which allows you to view the footage directly on High ...
