Summary: I have this Camcorder I most said wow the image is amazing and the night vision is 10=++++++ I used this for Paranormal investigations and I love it Ghost Adventure Love it too this is the Camera they used on the shows.the price over 1,200.00 I think is fine is worth it but not anybody can afford to buy this camera I recommend it.you wont be disappointed.
Summary: I'm sorry it was the best at the time because it has been so disappointing. I has ONE MAJOR FLAW that makes it WORTHLESS at times. Taking family movies is usually a spontaneous inspiration which requires quick thinking to grab the camera when something cute or interesting is happening. I had a previous Sony and it was great but not digital.
Summary: The HDR-CX700v camcorder is my first digital HD video camera and I like it a lot. The video editing software I use with it is Sony Vegas Pro 12 and I prefer to shoot my videos in 1080p/60p (since the video is much smoother). But Sony Vegas does not export to this frame rate, resolution and format. So I have to stick with 1080p/24p for now until Sony makes a video editing software that exports 1080p/60p without changing the resolution, frame rate and format.
Great Camera, stolen from Gaylord Texan Hotel on 30th Oct 2012
19 November 2012
Summary: This was a great camera, with good video facilities. Unfortunately someone stole ours from the Gaylord Texan Hotel. It had photos and film of our daughter that was never backed up. If you come across the following serial number S01-0122116 then please get in touch. We are offering a substantial reward if the film and picture remain. We only want the pictures and film back as these were priceless.
Summary: I upgraded from the Sony 150 to this and love it. The built in sync cable is so much better, the build in wide lens is also great. I film almost every day with it and have no complaints about it. I use it for work and the quality is fantastic. It is small and light weight and that is what I need for what I do.
Sony Cx700 - Love and Hate - Mostly hate............
31 December 2011
Summary: Where do I start? I love to hate this camera! Amazon loaned me the 700 for 2 months, thanks Amazon. (actually 2 different ones) The Cx700 is built like a tank, nice and solid in the hand. Great low light images, great LCD and speakers. Fantastic sound capture! Fantastic buttery like stabilization, and a remote control. And the usual Sony warm "pop" image recording, (kind of warm) That's were the nice stuff ends....
Summary: My husband and I saved up to buy a top quality videocamera to use for music and other projects, but after creating several hours of footage and trying to import into our Final Cut Pro program, nothing is working. We realized later that it does not run with ANY Mac computer software (and we use Final Cut Pro), and it is far too late to now return the camera. So I expect we can find something expensive that Sony will sell us to work on a PC-- we are so sad.
Summary: This is not a comprehensive review, but rather some first impressions. I have edited this review a couple times, since editing and playback support has been improved since my initial review. I am not an expert with video; I'm just a geeky dad that wants to get the best possible video of my kid being cute. I was upgrading from a 4 year old Sony HDR-SR1. The HDR-CX700V is a really nice upgrade, but it didn't blow me away. Perhaps my expectations were too high.
Image Stabilization - shooting from moving platform

Summary: I have been using the Sony HDR-CX700V with a tripod mounted on the deck of two flat-bottomed boats (16' and 24' Carolina Skiffs). For initial tests the camcorder was positioned so as to include the bow of the boats in the frame for reference and both boats were run in varying wave and wake conditions in the St. Johns River, Florida.
