Summary: I 've lost my camcorder after my wife gave birth to our third child. I was devastated by the loss of precious moments of our lives. I wanted to buy another camcorder, better than the one stolen in the hospital. This purchase achieved just that.
Quite a step up, but not perfect (still a sunny day camera)

Summary: The other Sony camcorder I got to review was the Sony HDR-PJ200 - and needless to say, at almost double the price, the HDRCX580V feels and acts like an incredible upgrade when compared to its cousin.
Summary: Pros: - Excellent video quality - but to get the best quality, make sure it's either set to "HD quality" in 60p or in 60i, be in FX (Highest Quality 24 Mbps); when you first receive it, it's default is set to Standard HQ and only 9 Mbps. - Dedicated External headphone and microphone jacks! Yes!
Summary: The first impression one gets when you hold this product in hand is - WOW! This is small and light weight! And it is. It feels nice in my hands and it does take good video in full Hi-def. There is even a built-in LED flash light that helps you take good video and pictures in pitch dark.
Summary: I love this camera, a great low light performer for its price.Rated highest performer by Consumers report, only 6 out of 41 HD cameras got that rating,4 Sony's and two Canon. Read feedback from B+H by people that know what they are talking about. The previous review is totally wrong.
Summary: Sony took away alot of features this year compared to last years HDR-CX560v. They put in a smaller sensor 1/3 compared to last years 1/2.88. They also removed the manual dial and night shot. There is no control over iris, shutter, focus and AE Shift.. The lens isn't as wide either..
Pros: 5.1 surround mic., peaking and zebra stripes..
Cons: The low light quality is very poor. Even indoors with regular lighting conditions the video gets grainy quick.. Only in very bright situations does this camcorder have good quality. Also the mic seems muffled..
Summary: I'm going to keep this review simple because my only intent here is to advise potential buyers that as of this review, Amazon is showing this model with a EVF (Electronic View Finder). It does NOT have a EVF. While it has its own internal memory, it also incorporates a SD slot for additional memory.
