Summary: Love the zoom, love the picture even at night. While it is a bit grainy at night, it's far better than my previous camcorder. Audio is good, pictures are good. Overall, I really like this camcorder a lot. I gave it a 4 because it really needs a remote with it. There are so many things I personally do where I'd need a remote. However, I knew it didn't have a remote when purchased so it's my own fault.
Summary: Cheetech made sure I rcvd my brand new video cam in time for my event (exemplary customer service!) & the product was brand new in it's un-opened box as advertised! I love how intuitive this camcorder is to use, and the clarity of the video it records! (I realize there is a newer version of this product, but this one works remarkably well, and I was able to get a 4-year extended warranty for it, as I'm sure I will continue to enjoy using it!
Summary: I bought this camera due to reviews and bang for the buck and I'm not disappointed. The picture holds up well when blown up to 50" flat screen proportions and the auto focus seems to work well. I was surprised at how light this camera is, you can hardly tell it's in the camera bag. And it's the smallest video camera I've ever owned. Having said that the LCD screen is quite big.
Summary: CX 380 has ONLY a 30 inch remote control cord...Now that's stupid engineering. Remote control at 30 inches from the camera, GET IT? Also the 11 pin custom made connector on the cord assures that you can't get a longer cord unless YOU wire it yourself or have it custom made.. Sony doesn't stock a longer cord for people who want to be more than thirty inches away from their camera...You know, "REMOTE".Plus, it will cost you an extra $70 for the 30 inch remote.
Summary: Wow, better than I could have expected for the price. Upgraded from a 7 year old Panasonic hard drive. First impression was the camera was really small and light. Used Pinnacle Studio to export to MP4 720 and it was incredible definition. Hockey takes place in dim rinks with netting and plexiglass to film through and the results were great.
Don't buy! extremely poor video quality in low light due to small sensor.

Summary: I never left a review in Amazon, but this product is too bad in low light, I don't want other buyers waste their money. HDR-CX380 video quality was horrible in low light due to ultra small 1/5.8-inch sensor. I didn't notice this problem until I took a video for my daughters in concert, the color was way off and video looked like VCR quality. I checked Google and found out HDR-CX380 had a much smaller 1/5.8-inch CMOS sensor than typical 1/3.0 ~1/3.8-inch sensor.
