Summary: UPDATED NEXT DAY: In all fairness, I did a substantial test of this camera before I put it aside for a while. The only time you really notice the "fishbowl effect" is when you are filming something and straight lines are at the top, bottom or sides of the central theme of the video; like a piano or big screen TV. The central area always films just fine. I made this video with this camera and never noticed the problem. So...eh...: [...
Summary: I was happy to see that this did not have a touch screen, we also have a Sony with a touch screen and the screen died after only 9 months of very little use. I was disappointed to see that this did not come with a charger, only a USB cord? Thankfully our old camera charger works for this. Replaying video on the TV took some time getting use to but all in all it is a great value!
Summary: Pros: easy to use, got it at Best Buy on black friday for $130, image quality ok. Cons:The photos look bad, did not come with a case for storage. Did not come with a USB wall charger, no light for night recording.
Summary: This camera is ok for the price. It is very light weight which is an advantage for someone who plans on taking it everywhere. Ergonomically it is great. Fits perfect in the hand buttons are all positive and smooth the camera is relatively small and can fit in a large front pocket but a cargo pocket is probably more appropriate. The LCD worked great I was a little bothered with the screen not being touch screen.
Summary: After using this camcorder for a few months, I would rate it as simply fair. Pros: It is easily portable, fitting into my front pocket often. It's light and after using it for a bit is easy to learn to keep stable. The picture quality is good in decent lighting conditions. Shooting with the sun in the foreground causes it to black out some. If the sun is at your back, it's good quality. I've only used outside during the day so I cannot comment on night quality.
Summary: I was unaware that this camera records all video files in VCHD .MTS files where you'd need to BUY A SEPARATE PROGRAM FROM SONY, to CONVERT files into your standard MPEG or what not. This is extremely STUPID and wastes MORE $ AND TIME. This is a deal breaker for me right out of the box after I filmed something, and my editing software could'nt use the file without it being converted. WHAT THE HELL SONY!??? I don't have time to convert these videos just to edit them.
