CX220 Ok video, bad photos

Pahooboy, B&H Photo
6 February 2014
 • Excerpt: The CX220 is an affordable HD Camera that provides an introductory budget video experience. It doesn't do anything special. If you are looking for something to provide home videos in HD that provides zooming past the length of a cell phone camera, then you would be ok with this camera. However, even though this camera has photo capabilities, it is so bad at taking photos that it renders this function useless. It is very light weight, almost cheap feeling.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Great Sound, Great Zoom
 • Cons: Poor In Low Light, Poor Still Image

 • Summary: I was happy to see that this did not have a touch screen, we also have a Sony with a touch screen and the screen died after only 9 months of very little use. I was disappointed to see that this did not come with a charger, only a USB cord? Thankfully our old camera charger works for this. Replaying video on the TV took some time getting use to but all in all it is a great value!

Good Price but Limited Functionality

 • Excerpt: For a casual user or one just getting started this camcorder has a good price for getting started with movie making. The operation is straight forward and easy to learn. It has limited zoom and mediocre picture quality. I'm not slamming this camcorder: it does what it does well enough for a low-end product.
 • Pros: Easy to Use

Nice little camera for what it is

 • Excerpt: Bought this camera to document family moments and it works well for that purpose. Menu is self explanatory, and easy to use. Takes nice pictures, however, it sometimes takes a while to find focus.
Also took a while to figure out how to charge the camera as there is NO AC adapter. You plug into a USB port or use one of the many AC to USB adapters most would have anyway.
Also shots look a little grainy indoors, but the sensor is tiny.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Simple Menu
 • Cons: Long Time To Focus, No External Mic Input, Poor In Low Light, Takes A While To Find Foc

Okay Camera

 • Excerpt: The picture quality was good for recording my daughters Varsity Basketball games, however I am not impressed by the cheap feel of the camera. I miss the touch LCD screen that my older Sony had. I didn't mind the fact that it has no internal memory, however I did not like the fact that the videos were not campatible with with Window's movie maker programs. I am returning this Camcorder and exchanging for a higher quality model.
 • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Zoom range/performance
 • Cons: Must Download Sony Softwa, No Touch Lcd Screen
