Summary: The controls are accessed through an on screen menu. The menu is VERY long and difficult to use. I spent much of an afternoon simply trying to delete some photos and short movie clips. I had to start at the beginning and work through the menus for each one even though I clicked on delete multiple. The LED screen is very difficult to see in the sun, even at it's brightest setting. Difficult to charge without buying a special cable.
save your money for a better camera, this ones not a good deal.

Summary: about 3 or 4 years ago i purchased a jvc camcorder for about the same price, a pretty decent camara but didnt have stabilizer. the sony handy cam about the same price, size, quality and had stabilizer, but the girl in the store said it would only use sonys memory card so i bought the jvc. rececntly the screen went dark on it so i thought id try the sony big mistake, i should have spent the money to fix the jvc.

Summary: I'm not a video expert. I have been shooting some videos on my phone and wanted to do something that would be HD quality (like my phone - Samsung Galaxy S3). I think maybe it's the megapixels that keep the video from looking as good as my phone, but the video quality wasn't even half of what I was expecting. very disappointing. I want my videos to look High Definition - as if you are watching a bluray - my phone does this - this camera does not.
Summary: The camera is for my kid who's interested in film-making. It's an okay entry camera for a child; lightweight, easy to operate, does what's required. As expected for this price it's 'plastic-y', and the quality is upscaled SD to HD, so a blurry result with the downside of taking up HD memory requirements on the card. But it's cheap, so the camera felt like it had given me what I'd paid for, until I needed to download the software.
Summary: Please, please listen to me: Do not buy this camcorder. The image and HD video quality is absolutely horrible from what I would expect from Sony or any modern camcorder for that matter. I make no exaggeration, the image quality resembles what you would get from a webcam. The "Full HD" video is no where near where it should be compared to competing products.
"SD card handycams are poor-may want to try other brand."

Pros: There is none.
Cons: Have to use multiple cables and develop a reationship with Sony helpline in order to record your recordings to playable dvd, and its not HD as promised. Seems like they are promoting you to by Blu-ray players in order to view your media. Retro tech.
Summary: I bought the whole package, the cam plus all the accessories advertised, but they only sent me the cam. Since I've received it, I'm trying to get the difference in price to a stand-alone cam, but I can't. This company is not serious enough.
