Sony HDR-CX130 Review

Digitaltrends
25 May 2011
  • Conclusion: The Sony Handycam HDR-CX130 is an excellent tool for capturing video memories. It doesn’t have all the features in the world but it doesn’t cost $1,000. Basically a point-and-shoot with a few tweaks, it does a fine job indoors and out. You’ll be happy with your movies—and the wide-angle 30x zoom is outstanding. Photos aren’t in the same league so our search for the perfect two-in-one device continues.
  • Pros: 30x wide-angle lens, Excellent AVCHD videos, 3-inch touchscreen LCD, Nice compact design
  • Cons: Poor 3.3MP photos, Make sure you set LCD to bright when in tough sunlight, Some inscrutable icons

Sony HDR-CX130E

MacWorld
4 August 2011
  • Excerpt: Recording to Sony Memory Stick Pro card or all varieties of SD for relative convenience, this near entry-level model in Sony’s HD camcorder range incorporates a sensitive 1/4in Exmor R CMOS sensor for better results shooting in dim light and with a price tag of $699. Furthermore, a Sony G series lens is said to boost performance, particularly at wide angle (here 29.8mm), where focus can drop off towards the edges of frame.
  • Pros: Large and obvious buttons; decent feature set for a reasonable price; choice of SD or Memory Stick storage; bright lights
  • Cons: Plasticky construction, though many will appreciate the larger controls; detail could be sharper

Test: Sony HDR-CX130 (HD-Camcorder)

CHIP Online
15 November 2011
