Summary: Great cam for making time lapse with a warning: Do not attempt to upgrade the firmware from 1.xx directly to 3.0. Its best to do 2.0 first as mine failed and now I am sending it to Sony for a $25 repair. Maybe they will comp me but I doubt it as its a used EB purchase. Would prefer that it constructed a video file of all the images but instead saves all intervals as jpegs. Makes for a bit of extra work in Final Cut.
Summary: I bought this at the last min. for trip to Bonair. (Price was the main reason on why I bought it) Its not a Go Pro but it does the job and the video quality of the video was really good. Again bought this at the last minute and I really didnt mess with the setting or anything so for me to just use this item out the box not bad. Now for the bad.
Summary: I really like this camera. Great quality and cheaper than a gopro. Buy an extra battery and nice memory card (i got 32 gb for $16 shipped) which is 4 1/2 hours of 1080p footage. My biggest problem with this camera is the case. The one it came with is way too bulky and doesnt have side buttons, after buying the slimmer one with buttons its fantastic but its a pain to have to spend an extra $20 for the case that really should have come with it in the first place.
Summary: Yes the go pro is the gold standard. But this camera is hard to pass up. I got it on sale for like $120. My intention was to see if i would even use a "action cam." This camera is pretty solid. The picture is really clear, ive found a lot of uses for it. I have definitely got my moneys worth out of this little guy. Even two of my friends bought these after visiting me and playing around with it. No review would be complete with out the con list.
Summary: I bought the Sony AS-15 and I am delighted with both the sound and video quality of this camera. I have the WI-FI version which enables me to download images to my ipad2. It comes with a waterproof case, a couple of mounts , a USB charge card and a decent battery. You will have to buy a memory card as the camera will not work without one. I purchased a SanDisk Ultra MicroSD 32GB card ( from Walmart). It yields about 4 hours of recording time.
Summary: Picked this up for myself during the black Friday period. For what I paid, it is the best action camera for the price. The features and specs and brand name speak for it. The software update was very easy and now I can do 1080p 60p great for slowing things down when action gets good! Battery life is good. I was able to do a time lapse with 5sec interval shots, it shot for a approx 4 hours before it died(sunrise, I went back to sleep!).
Pros: Slim, lightweight, battery life, WiFi
Cons: Mounting options are limited but it uses a standard threading so any tripod mount will work.
Summary: Very small camera with excellent video quality. Operating may be a bit confusing in the beginning but nothing serious. A more useful manual would be great since you have to guess most of the functionality. That paper should point you straight to a web site with instructions or the YouTube videos made by Sony.
Summary: haven't used it yet, like another cust, i did not get a class ten card. (it was a 2). when i told cardinal they said they refunded me 13.50 and gave me a site to get one. the site was for a class 1 card! cardinal would not send a class ten which suggests the illegal practice of bait and switch. no trust in a company that has zero customer service. the day after i bought mine cardinal raised the price by $10 (maybe for an upcoming sale!?
