Summary: This will produce some of the most incredible 3D images you have ever scene in your life if you take the time to learn how to compose 3D shots. This is a MUCH better camera than it's newer model the td20 (which does not prudice as great a 3D effect or 'pop out' float in your face effects.
Summary: I just received my 3D camera about a week ago, and so far, I'm impressed. I am giving this unit 4 stars based on price ($700-$750), quality, stabilization, easy of use, battery life, 5-hr record time in 3D. I dropped down 1 star because there are NO manual controls in 3D mode. Based on amazon reviews, I decided to go with this version, as opposed to the newer HDR-TD20.
Summary: So far it's working good!! It's an awesome camera with below $900 price. It's a video for the future, if you don't have 3DTV now you can always watch it in 2D but the important is having access to 3D option which the next generation will enjoy. It's just bigger than other camcorder as it compose of two camera put on together to get the 3D video effects.I wish they have this in all black and a kind of rubberize like finish like the SLR camera- now that's a better Sony!
Excellent 3D camcorder works on LD and Sony 3D TVs!

Summary: Good points excellent and can be bought on Ebay for $950/£600 - do not buy from web sites - One wanted $300 for postal insurance ($950 for camera/free postage/$300 insurance) can be manually set to video out of the screen forwards as well as behind the screen. So 3D objects move from inside the TV displaying the scene to in front of the TV screen.
Excellent 3d and 2d Picture quality and very easy to use

Summary: This is an excellent, state of the art, full 1080p, 3D camcorder. It is very easy to use and the quality of the 3D and 2D video recordings is amazing. I really like being able to save the video to an external hard disk. The external hard disk acts like a DVR for 3D movies which is cool. You really don't even need to burn your movies to an external Blu Ray burner (but it would be nice if you could).
Summary: We had pre-ordered and received one of the first units sold in the US. We have really loved this camera. Picture quality is great. 10 X optical zoom with a true 3D (1080p for both lenses) is really a must have. My only complaints so far are relatively limited options for 3D video editing and the inability to take 3D stills, and the inability to take any stills during 3D video capture mode --- this is a real problem since we have been capturing 3D video almost exclusively...
Summary: I sooo want to love this camera...but looking at the LCD screen too long makes my head ache and my stomach feels queasy. It takes time to get used the glasses-free 3D screen...its a beautiful screen, and the glasses free 3D works even better than I thought it would, now only if I would stop getting these dizzy head-aches! The pictures is clear...oh so clear...the 3D is first rate...the pop-up is amazing coming out of my Samsung UN55C8000 TV.
"Excellent little 3D camera for near-range general work."

Pros: Low cost dual camera system. Excellent no-glasses lcd screen. Manual controls, however arcane. Physical size permits mounting on main camera for 2D/3D shooting. 5.1 Audio recording. Very nice images in 3D or 2D. Cost allows cheap multicamera shooting.
Cons: Waiting for Vegas 10d, or Godot, whichever comes first. Awkward manual controls (Handycam, after all). Still unknown stream separating capability (Waiting for...). No recording with lcd closed. No pause in main camera control. No lanc control.
